I worked at Coram full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

I loved our patients and there were a few team members that were very hard workers....it's primarily the intake staff that is horrible.

    Cons

Intake and other unlicensed staff work from home and are uneducated....and it shows.

    Advice to Management

Hire individuals that are better educated, aren't at home drinking wine while they're working and have a more professional attitude.

I have been working at Coram full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The only pro is that my team all work really hard and cover each other when necessary.

    Cons

Management is the absolute worse! There is no assistance from management. You are never told when you are doing a good job but are constantly reprimanded for even the smallest of things. If you are not one to stand up for yourself, you will be thrown under the bus time after time, at times by your own manager. Rules are constantly changing and work is always being added to your load. Stay far away from this place!...

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees. Check in with them to make sure they're not dead from all the work you've put on them. When complaints are made to you, please try to actually fix the problem versus just ignoring it until it's brought to you by someone higher up, which will in turn cause you to blame the employees under you.

I worked at Coram full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Not a whole lot of positivity.

    Cons

Non-supportive upper management that has absolutely no respect for the clinical judgement or expertise of pharmacists, nurses, or any other health care professional, as long as they get the sale. If it suits upper management, they completely ignore patient safety and their own policies and procedures, if it means a lucrative sale, and have even (and illegally) over ridden the judgement of medical professionals just...

    Advice to Management

Upper management needs to be reviewed on an ongoing basis. The medical professionals that you hire HAVE THE LAST WORD on patient therapy and safety. State and federal laws are in place because greedy companies like yours do not take patient safety seriously. Obey them or pay the consequences.

I worked at Coram part-time for more than a year

    Pros

The water in the water cooler was cold. Patient interaction was fulfilling. Every single employee at my branch was pleasant to work with. The team atmosphere is contagious at times. My direct supervisor was fantastic. There are opportunities to advance if you are willing to work 60 hours a week.

    Cons

I was a per-diem employee, which most companies would classify as part-time (about 24 hours a week). I was hired through an agency at a fair wage considering that no benefits were going to be offered. After six months of employment, CVS decided that I was a good employee, so they offered me a job at 7% less pay (!), non-negotiable, no benefits, and obviously below the market average. I was a sucker and took the offer...

    Advice to Management

Hiring and training new employees is extremely expensive. If Coram's goal is to be more profitable, then hiring for the long-term is the obvious solution. Competitive employee salary and employee satisfaction would make a huge difference toward long-term net profits. Improving Coram’s software with Epic technology would improve efficiency by at least 30%. Without software upgrades I would bet that outside competition...

I worked at Coram full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Loved my patients and learning New therapies

    Cons

Management does not appreciate the work the nurses do, want you to work a schedule that can be any time from early am to late evening. And oncall 6 days a month on top of it. Your work schedule controls your life. Micromanaged and yet poorly run in nursing department. Office staff gets perks like free lunches while the nurses are putting on 500+ miles every week taking care of patients with no perks or appreciation....

    Advice to Management

Take care of your nurses, your turnover rate will greatly decrease. Appreciate when they do work hard instead of expecting them to work more and More hours and adding more On call

I worked at Coram for less than a year

    Pros

The team is like family. Casual dress code. The environment was really laid back. Foodsby always has great lunch options. My direct supervisor and department manager were awesome. My branch buddies were wonderful.

    Cons

Be careful at the light on flying cloud when the roads are iced. The load can sometimes be stressful especially if your branch mate(s) is/are out of the office.

    Advice to Management

Don’t work against each other. I noticed the cliquey-ness of the supervisors when I was there and it just caused more confusion and division. Aim to be a more cohesive department, ACO Infusion.

Very good management. Personable and treat you like you’re a real person. Understanding of life circumstances and working around them. Flexible.

    Cons

The mandatory On Call. Their benefits aren’t that great.
