I worked at Coram full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Develop long lasting relationships with patients and their families

    Cons

Management, high turnover rate, on call requirements, work/life balance (you will basically work 2 week's straight when you are assigned on call for a weekend, it's just added on top of your existing weekly patient load), poor communication between departments, long hours (often you will work a full day then be on call all evening/night, many times did 14-16 hours -any after...

I worked at Coram full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    1hr lunch’s breaks, nice coworkers

    Cons

No work-life balance if you have small children in daycare this isn’t the job for you. You never leave on time. Business is growing. Departments are short staffed. Under paid for the amount of work the company wants you to do. Unorganized lack of communication. Management leaves team hanging. Very stressful environment

I worked at Coram full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The only pro to working here, is realizing there is better for you out there then this place.

    Cons

Work life balance is non-existent. They have mandatory overtime that keeps getting extended because employees leave and they have no one else to do the work. Employee burn-out here is a serious problem at this company. The quotas are unrealistic and unhealthy. Breaks and lunches are within slotted windows of time that must be approved on a daily basis by management. Due to the...

    Advice to Management

We are not a number, we are a human being with a life outside of work. Treat your employees better or watch them leave. Stop wasting your time on training new employees and create better management with realistic employee goals. Shame on all of you for being so inept at taking care of your staff.

I worked at Coram full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Most co-workers were hard working, team players, made work enjoyable. Overtime was great and benefits were good.

    Cons

Poor cooperate decisions to save money. Laid off people, added more work to current employees. Some management not clinical so had no clue how to operate the business. Systems were unbearable to deal with: No money put into good quality health care based systems to enhance; patient care turnaround time, adjudication of claims completely missing, not working properly (daily). Caused more stress on employees rather than...

    Advice to Management

Cheap is not always better, actually worse in the long - run. Great employees leave because it becomes unbearable with the poor management (corporate) choices made. Put patient care at the top of your list, not numbers and money-driven goals. Care for your employees and their struggles with the multiple daily changes that occur, do not shun them for voicing opinions of the impact these choices have had upon them.

I have been working at Coram full-time

    Pros

Flexible, ok to have appointments in the morning then head in to work.

    Cons

Sales and operations teams can struggle to work together. You’re constantly available to case managers, so can struggle with work life balance if you don’t have good boundaries.

I worked at Coram part-time for more than a year

    Pros

The water in the water cooler was cold. Patient interaction was fulfilling. Every single employee at my branch was pleasant to work with. The team atmosphere is contagious at times. My direct supervisor was fantastic. There are opportunities to advance if you are willing to work 60 hours a week.

    Cons

I was a per-diem employee, which most companies would classify as part-time (about 24 hours a week). I was hired through an agency at a fair wage considering that no benefits were going to be offered. After six months of employment, CVS decided that I was a good employee, so they offered me a job at 7% less pay (!), non-negotiable, no benefits, and obviously below the market average. I was a sucker and took the offer...

    Advice to Management

Hiring and training new employees is extremely expensive. If Coram's goal is to be more profitable, then hiring for the long-term is the obvious solution. Competitive employee salary and employee satisfaction would make a huge difference toward long-term net profits. Improving Coram’s software with Epic technology would improve efficiency by at least 30%. Without software upgrades I would bet that outside competition...

I worked at Coram full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good group of people to work with.

    Cons

The company, CVS Health/Coram is very 'cheap'. It may seem small, but giving your hard working staff soup for the holiday and then having the leadership team spend their own money. It took tons of complaining to get vents cleaned out, and also to get carpet cleaned. Terrible benefits, everyone is underpaid. They dont believe in work/life balance. I truly feel that the company...

    Advice to Management

I think there needs to be a complete upgrade to upper management (Director positions and up). At some point, you have to care about your staff... The company is losing really good people by the boatloads.
