I have been working at Core Laboratories full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

The pay is alright, and the workload is manageable.

    Cons

Teamwork is very poor as people want to claim credit for themselves. Upper management favors friends and family - promotion to senior roles only for bootlickers. Hard work isn't recognized in this company. Management is unable or unwilling to control domineering behaviors displayed by some disgruntled employees, preferring instead to advice victims to "just ignore them". No merit increase and no promotions are forthcoming...

    Advice to Management

Grow a bone, and start taking action against disruptive employees. Otherwise one day Corelab will be destroyed when all your hardworking employees leave due to the toxic work atmosphere.

    Cons

Unprofessional management behaviour. If someone takes a grievance to local management they will cover it up and label them a trouble maker. Fluids manager will regularly go into huffs and shut his office/blank staff in corridors. Mix of terrible supervisors and great supervisors. The good ones actively encourage younger staff to "get off the sinking ship", the bad ones will try to use their staff as scapegoats for their...

    Advice to Management

Prevent high staff turnover and retain the good lab staff by offering pay rises at a lab level. Senior management enjoy yearly bonuses exceeding the cost of entire departments whilst low paid, skilled workers have went 3 years without any merit increase. Many lab and office staff deserving of at least a raise in line with inflation, if not more for achieving incredible results during the oil downturn.
