I worked at Core Laboratories (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Good benefits. Including Vision,Dental, Health Insurance. Payed time off. Sick pay.Flexible working Hours. Shop Is heated and air conditioned.

    Cons

When Core Lab bought out Timco they kept on the original owners. Bad decision. The manager who was a former partner allowed personnel from Timco to harass and intimidate the newer employees if they went to him because of you you were called into the office. But, if you went to him because of them he told you just to get along with them as good as possible. He told someone that if anyone went over his head to HR he would get rid of them.

    Advice to Management

Treat people equally. Get rid of the trouble makers.

I have been working at Core Laboratories full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great place to start as a fresher , looking to gain some experience ,

    Cons

Recruitment or opportunities are not based on merit , big gap between highly experienced staff , most are not professional

    Advice to Management

Employment should be awarded not to the cheapest , but the most suitable applicant , after rigourous rounds of interviews

I worked at Core Laboratories full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Benefits.. maybe??? Experience in oilfield. Lots of networking opportunities.

    Cons

Always gone on the road. Feels more like a truck driver job than scientist. irregular hours; when core is up, you're up. 95 % outdoors at the elements' mercy. Office environment is worse than 10th grade high school with all the politics and inappropriate interpersonal relations. Plenty of nepotism and hiring friends. Plenty of favoritism. Unequal opportunity and extremely hard to get ahead. All advancement opportunity, including safety training is at the discretion of a thick-headed manager. No oversight by corporate office unless it relates to profits or expenses.

    Advice to Management

Maintain a friendly work environment. Use people to their skills and potential rather than favor select few. In every single business ethics text or HR text there is a statement along the lines of : "Happy employees = Productive Employees = Profitable Company"

    Pros

Some of the ppl here are really nice and quite easy to get a along with. Easy to make long lasting friends because of the "common denominator".

    Cons

Where do I even start. I use to love my job but after management changed it became very sneaky, secretive, and shady. I probably wouldn't recommend this company to anyone unless its for the experience.

    Advice to Management

If you want to keep your employees, treat them well!

    Pros

Brand new facility located right off of 225

    Cons

Worse communication I have ever seen in my career in this industry. For some reason, when a customer places and order, the paperwork does not make it into the lab for the people who test it. Apparently, it is the people who test it to do everyones elses' job trying to get the paperwork.
This seems like a very simple fix yet it actually costs the loss of business and loss of important clients. But somehow it still happens almost everyweek.

    Advice to Management

There should be 1 manager to several people, not several managers for one person. There are 2 people on lab shift work scheduled, during the day there are 5+ Managers and supervisors. At night, there are 0, zilch, nada

    Cons

Very dull and sluggish working atmosphere. Management has no vision and idea where the company is gonna to go.

    Advice to Management

Be a leader rather than a watchdog.
