I have been working at Core Laboratories full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Most people who work here are very nice and respectful. 4 weeks of vacation and 1 week of sick pay right off the bat, which is super nice. Good benefits as well and decent 401k match.

    Cons

Management can be a little bit conservative and resistance to change. No annual bonus or very rare, raises are often delayed due to the industry. No upward movement, very little to zero chance to get a promotion, Pay is below market value.

    Advice to Management

Promote from within. Management only wants to look outside and not value their own team members. Don't ask employees to do career development while they will have nowhere to grow to.

I worked at Core Laboratories full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Easy money if you do not have a degree

    Cons

If you have a degree, do not waste your time here. There is not growth opportunity at all and they can fire you anytime of the oil does down.

    Advice to Management

Management staff are very disorganized and will not teach you how to perform work correctly.

I have been working at Core Laboratories full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

The pay is alright, and the workload is manageable.

    Cons

Teamwork is very poor as people want to claim credit for themselves. Upper management favors friends and family - promotion to senior roles only for bootlickers. Hard work isn't recognized in this company. Management is unable or unwilling to control domineering behaviors displayed by some disgruntled employees, preferring instead to advice victims to "just ignore them". No merit increase and no promotions are... forthcoming as well, as the big boss says, "the share price has been decimated." Everyone is extremely unhappy and is just hanging on just because there are no other jobs out there.

    Advice to Management

Grow a bone, and start taking action against disruptive employees. Otherwise one day Corelab will be destroyed when all your hardworking employees leave due to the toxic work atmosphere.

I have been working at Core Laboratories full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Good documents and information database. Possibility to visit and work in different locations.

    Cons

Bad work/home balance. Job will find you everywhere. If you have a family sooner or later you have to choose. You have to be extra flexible, but your loyality will not be appreciated.

    Advice to Management

Management knows better how to manage, so there is no need to advise.

I have been working at Core Laboratories full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great benefits, holiday pay, 401K, etc.

    Cons

The work atmosphere here could be improved. Too many chiefs and not enough Indians. Only way to get ahead is if you are buddy buddy with someone.

    Advice to Management

    Pay raises for employees

I worked at Core Laboratories full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

You meet some of the best people here most are very supportive and there to help rather it’s your HR team all the way down to you local manager. They hire you knowing nothing and teach you everything possible to get you out in the field to do your job safely. Everyday is presented with something new, challenges you to use your brain and actually think a little, you learn something new everyday and if you apply your... self you will feel worthy at the end of your 12hr 4 days straight schedule

    Cons

Talking about a micromanagement breeding hub!! Is what is a turn off to some of the few good guys that’s come to work at Saybolt. I know people say that you will have the same problems where you go but here is by far the worst. They don’t believe in any form of properly communicating with no one they let these so call assist mangers make decisions with out any approval.what makes it worst is that they have every... form of communication to prevent this disbelief I am sharing. Ex: the manger comes up with a plan to have a assistant whereas every team is already assigned a shift Supvisor of a group of two-four people. Secondly they have a on call Skeleton crew assigned to every team due to demands of the job. But they can’t seem to follow the plan instead they select people who they know will come in and do it just to be a team player and get the job done and this happens all them time!!! Overall they need to cut back on the trying to fix new issues and focus on improving the task that’s causing problems.

    Advice to Management

Invest in your management team send them to a form of Communication training. Come up with a correct fix instead of just assigning a new position. Focus on the target areas that we are lacking. Companies don’t run people off Managers do!!!!
