I have been working at Corium International full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Company overall is good, benefits, full-time work, pay rate is average. Employees are treated fairly for the most part.

    Cons

My perspective is that the is favoritism for choice jobs instead of who is the most qualified for the position. Lack of communication to employees or redundant information in meetings.Crisis management seems to be the norm, instead of well thought out plan.

    Advice to Management

Improve communication between management and employees. Be open and honest about what is going on with regards to the company and plan accordingly

I worked at Corium International full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Corium has life changing innovative technology platforms. Core team of executives and directors have been with the company for years and dedicated to getting products to the marketplace. Great place to work if you are willing to put in the hours and be flexible.

    Cons

As usual in an R&D environment, prioritizes change, projects demand urgent attention and everyone has to be flexible and put in the long hours to meet the deadlines.

    Advice to Management

Communicate long range plans with staff.

I worked at Corium International full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good pay, good benefits (health insurance in particular was very good with a reasonable premium cost), good vacation plan, 401K, and ESPP was very good!

    Cons

After company became publicly traded (April 2014) NUMEROUS changes were made. Management expected too much from salaried staf, which made it very difficult to balance work and personal life. Engineers, in particular, were always expected to work whatever hours and shifts needed to support their projects. However, thay were not given much recognition when they went "above and beyond" to do so, nor were they given any incentive to do so (i.e. flextime).

    Advice to Management

People get burnt out when you expect so much from so few people. It is necessary to recognize all employees (even salaried staff) for good work, numerous hours/shifts worked, and provide incentives of some type. Management neds to emphasize the balance of work vs. personal life too.

    Pros

Can learn a lot of medical device manufacture, development and production knowledge. Can work with different kind of professional from manufacture, formulation to clinical trail. Have chance work in different kind of drug compounds from small molecule, peptides to proteins.

    Cons

Company was money oriented. Financial situation was very unstable. When they have money, they would expand rapidly and hire many people. When the stock go down, they laid off many employee without any notice. Management team had no idea what is the focus. Just rush to any directions randomly to try keep survive.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work, hope you still won't have to walk outside to get to the lab still.

    Pros

Good location on the peninsula. High turnover of quality people so there's a lot of of chances to network

    Cons

    - management structure is confusing and dysfunctional
    - most workers are strung along on aerotek contracts for up to 2+ years then let go with a week's notice
    - company culture doesn't exist
    - old boys club mentality within directors - they all worked together before - or something along those lines. Lots of bickering and constant peeing contest - very male-dominated environment

    Advice to Management

Define roles and responsibilities from the top-down.
