I worked at Corner Bakery Cafe full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Lots of opportunity for individuals prepared to take initiative. The company is on the cusp of going from a middle tier organization to a true enterprise level business. Pretty much everyone you need to know works in the same building.

    Cons

The corporate ideal is very much beholden to their franchise interests. When the franchisees are unhappy people at the home office start to fear for their jobs. The fact that the company is at a crossroads to either become big business or continue on as just another restaurant chain results in some high stress as old guard complacent employees struggle to come to terms with new high energy employees that have high ideals but very little experience.

    Advice to Management

Be the standard. The franchisees are beholden to the brand, not vice versa. Take their opinions, whines, gripes, and advice for what it is worth and make your decisions based on evidence rather than feelings.

I worked at Corner Bakery Cafe full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

A lot talent is at the office and in ops. If they want to keep these people, the company needs to clean the decks and start over with some of the upper management who are crashing the place. Casual work environment. Good coffee. Good size work stations. Nice office in general.

    Cons

Lack of leadership, direction, communication and decision making. Small office but big egos, CEO doesn't even remotely make an effort to speak to people that are not at a director level or above. It's arrogant. This company really needs to get it together for their sake. I would not recommend this as a place to be employed. Does not have a 401k match program.

    Advice to Management

Care about your people or your customers will never care about you. Act like you give a damn. It's starts from the inside out. Your never going to get the sales you want with what/ how you are running things.
