I worked at Corner Bakery Cafe full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

50% discount on food, paid time off, there are too many pros, besides food discounts on any bakery and paid vacations.

    Cons

Poor training, wage pay too low, Management don't have good training and attitude, company expects employees and managers to do a lot with little time provided, company rises are 20 cents pathetic, and employees had been working for 10 yrs or more only making $13 an hrs, Managers sucks most of them 80%, I guess employees are there because they don't have another choice but they seem miserables they don't enjoy working for them, and costumer wants fine dining service when they are barely paying for a cup of coffee

    Advice to Management

Managers some of them try to do good job but the company doesn't gave them enough tools to do their job specially when it come to give rises to employees, they want employees to work like slaves for too little $ that's why employees always quit from there, their turnover is always high, managers remember there is more places to work don't get stack there when they don't recognize your job and for those Manager mediocres I don't even know why they got the job.

    Pros

The food is 1/2 off for workers. You can get a lot of hours and great tips from customers. A clean work environment.

    Cons

You don't get any benefits or vacation unless you are a manager. Management doesn't care if you are overworked; I worked about about 55 hours Monday-Friday and refused to work Saturday due to exhaustion and they threatened to cut my hours. High turn-over rate in all areas. You can't leave until they say your shift is over; even in catering they have you work up front in the cafe when your work is done, when needed, without paying attention to your start time.

    Pros

50% off meals. Free coffee and drinks for employees.

    Cons

Management lacks communication. The catering position relies heavily upon the manager present the night before to set our schedule for the next day. Managers would frequently forget to let us know when to come in, even on really busy days. Management would frequently schedule me as a server on days where i was meant to be in catering, forcing me to miss out on the day's tips. Catering trucks were poorly maintained (the air conditioning in our smaller truck went out on us and was never fixed (while we had to deliver in 85-90 degree weather). Management cares only about the bottom line, and will force one person to do two people's jobs if it will save them a little money and they are high on labor for the day. I will never work for another corner bakery for as long as I live. They made life miserable for me as a caterer.

    Advice to Management

Pay more attention to people's availability instead of scheduling them whenever you want or whenever YOU need the coverage. Have people you can call so that a catering team member doesn't miss out on their own schedule and get forced to serve. Start treating your employees less like numbers and more like people.

    Pros

Close to my house, friends work there, they work around my schedule, not forced to do much

    Cons

This place is dirty, the Mgr's don't care about cleanliness. Mgt is always bickering about one another, the owners and don't lift a finger to help the staff.

    Advice to Management

If you want to succeed, become part of a team.

    Pros

Discount on food but only on days that you are working

    Cons

Constantly getting screamed at for no reason by managers who can barely speak English. They also force you to stay hours after a shift without giving you any notice. I worked there for about 6 weeks and I had seen around 10 people quit. Everyone hates it here

I worked at Corner Bakery Cafe part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

You can earn tips if you're assigned to the front of the house as a server.

    Cons

You may have to learn and perform the responsibilities of several different jobs, some of which ought to pay more than minimum wage. The CBC I worked at recently changed the way they pay their employees. It all goes into a card, and there are several caveats to it, like fee charges and whatnot. Ridiculous.

    Advice to Management

Fight the ridiculous policies that impact employees negatively, if and when you can, at every opportunity. I know certain managers care a lot for the employees. I hope they can make a difference.
