I have been working at Cornerstone Brands full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Job security, vacation time and summer hours, non-smoking environment, employee discounts to HSN, frontgate, ballard designs, improvements and Garnet hill catalogs.

    Cons

Long hours, terrible Salary bonus program, old equipment gets bandaid instead of replaced, non consistently on most aspects of discipline and employee interaction.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your staff. Don't over look committed, hard working, loyal and smart employees for advancement.

    Pros

Great pay; the CBI folks are awesome; great environment if you work in the office; ability to work from home; plenty of advancement opportunities to be a supervisor

    Cons

HSN is trying to run the show and they are terrible; they have no idea how CBI operates and they try for force everyone in their mold; the Managers have NO time for the supervisors because of meetings so employees cannot get answers to problems or questions

    Advice to Management

Have either more managers or less meetings for the managers you have; tell HSN to SLOW DOWN on their domination

    Pros

You receive up to 40% off HSN products, Improvements, Ballard Designs, Grandin Road and Frontgate. You also get PTO days after 90 days.

    Cons

Where should I begin? I worked from home in another county, and was almost forced to drive over 120 miles one way to attend a Forum. I was trained to be a CS1 and later promoted to a CS2. I was taking sales and service calls for $12.00 per hour. Customers were on hold 40 minutes or more and once you answered the call you were called every name in the book. Items arrived to customers, damaged, missing, incorrect or with stains on them. Your supervisor was never available, and spent more time shopping down the street. I was told to sell "Buyer's Club Memberships" and maintain a quota, in addition to taking customer and escalated calls. Too many issues and not enough pay.

    Pros

Pay is decent for being an at home position.

    Cons

The company portrays itself as work life balance and flexible scheduling. But that is very untrue. You work as set schedule and even though you are allotted a certain amount of PTO, if you use it you are penalized. The metrics are unreasonable and the team leads have no clue about how to handle situations. They rotate employees constantly because of the inflexibility. and unrealistic metrics. Information given to CSR's is never consistent. You'll get five different answers from five different people. Then you're dinged for the mistake when the proper handling was never clear.

    Advice to Management

Stop 'pretending' to care about your employees when all that matters is sale, sale, sale. Make sure the information is the same across board.

I have been working at Cornerstone Brands (Less than a year)

    Pros

    work-at-home jobs are convenient
it does seem like there is room for advancement but I think it's because lots of people leave

    Cons

You have to supply all the equipment at your cost (internet, laptop, phone line, headset, etc)
It takes a few weeks to get trained on all the different systems and all the brands/companies you represent. I think the reason they are always hiring is because employees see it's just not worth the money. We sell pieces of furniture that cost thousands yet get no commission.

    Advice to Management

I think they'd be better off to pay a little more then they would have less attrition.

    Cons

The process for advancement could be improved.
