I have been working at Cosentini Associates full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Cosentini works on projects with the best architect's in the industry. Good culture, good benefits, management is open and works directly with you, old school attitude is changing and management is pushing for innovation. Great place to work if you want to leave your mark on the NYC skyline.

    Cons

Little upward mobility, management is still a little old school

    Pros

Good projects like high rise building, flexible hours,
Some very nice people work there to help you learn the hvac and show you how to do it

    Cons

Very poor upper management, not enough recognition by higher bosses for hard work that result in very small raises in the salary. Hiring people for wrong reason and laying off people for nothing

    Advice to Management

Collect your act before is too late, economy will not forever be favoring you, be more ethical and professional in you act and behavior

I have been working at Cosentini Associates full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Not perfect but overall a good place to work. Once you learn the ability to handle things on your own you can work at your own pace and your performance is judged solely upon your ability to get projects done on time with minimal errors.

The company is definitely trying to make an effort to tailor towards a younger attitude and have parted with a lot of the old school engineering ways.

    Cons

Company definitely favors people that were only ever with Cosentini and its hard to become a project manager if you are not a Mechanical Engineer.

    Pros

More opportunities to design big projects and to be involved into different kinds of projects. Good working environment and durable working stress.

    Cons

It's difficult to stand out. Less chance to be involved in the whole process of the project. During economy crisis, easy to get lay off.

    Pros

Used to be a super good employer.
But, getting jobs in China has become a nightmare with training of Chinese professionals that are brought from China. American senior engineers like me are forced to train these men and women, but before graduation and sent back to China, these Chinese disappear in the City or go to other States of the Union. I'm tired of being a TEACHER !!!

    Cons

I described above my disappointments above, in one paragraph.

    Advice to Management

The new owners of the Consentini Associates is own by a Japanese Company with business in China. There is nothing I can do about it. Management says if you do not like new policies, leave.

I have been working at Cosentini Associates (More than a year)

    Pros

Some really incredible people work here, some truly unpleasant people work here. Depends on who you sit near. Relatively flexible environment, depends on your direct supervisor. Some truly qualified colleagues.

    Cons

Very old school, still do things the way they've been doing things for decades. Highly hierarchal. Some truly unqualified colleagues. Minimal attention to improving the current company culture. Very high turnaround for young employees.

    Advice to Management

Pay greater attention to the needs of employees, look to your peers in the field (architects) for clues on how to improve workplace culture.
