I worked at Costa Crociere full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good company, you get to learn a lot. Get to travel for free, meet tons of people from different backgrounds.

    Cons

Bad thing is that the head of deparments have their "favorites" who wont do a thing and get promoted easily. A lot of discounts on snacks and drinks. Theres a point when you cant handle the hard work or extra hours needed.

    Pros

The conpany offer good salary and the position is a key for the operations. Travelling is also a great part and you get to know places you never dreamed about.

    Cons

Stay away from home over 4 months without family amd close friends can be challenging, but you get over it

    Advice to Management

Facilitate cruise benefits for crew members. Listen more to CMs concerns and keep clise eyes on managers that are old to the company and are mistreating their employees.

I worked at Costa Crociere full-time

    Pros

A good way to save money.
    MAYBE meet new places.
You get accommodation and food for free.

    Cons

Lots of discrimination, mostly seen as "Italian supremacy"
You get paid almost nothing for 13-15h of work every day with no days off during 8-10 months.
    HR never cares about you.
Only if you are about to die or if you DEMAND a medical visit, it will be given to you, doctors on board are careless.

    Advice to Management

Don't lie to the new recruits by showing them an "all good" place of working, when it actually isn't.

    Advice to Management

Pay your employees equally. Make sure agencies in India, Philippines and other asian countries gives your hires a genuine picture of the job.

    Positive Outlook

    Pros

    +Travel
+Free accomodation (in shared small cabin)
    +Free meals
+ Meeting lot of different cultures and learning their languages

    Cons

    - Long hours
    - Hard work (usually more physical for guys, moving equipment up and down the stairs etc)
    - Managing rude guests
    - Very variable teams (you can end up with a good managed team, or in a stressfull environment and have (mostly) no choice about it.
    - Racism and class divisions
    - Obligatory safety exercises up to 4 times a week

    Advice to Management

They should implement a Manager evaluation form, right now only the single employee is evaluated and this lead to an unhealthy shift of power. They provide training for managers but should promote people already adequate for job.
