I have been working at Cottonwood Financial full-time for more than 6 years

    Pros

I have worked for the company for nearly 6 years. I started as an assistant manager and worked my way to a district manager. There are good advancement opportunities within the company. As a district manager I enjoy coaching and developing my team to be leaders and celebrating their wins. This is a great company to start a long term career if you are motivated and enjoy helping others. I have grown a lot as a manager...

    Pros

    Quick hire. Quick training process.

    Cons

Legal Loan SHARKS!!! Interest rates are ridiculous! More then 500%, but management does not want employees to explain (Over Share) the contract to customers. Then customers come back and think you are the crook. Hours are horrible! 9am to 7pm, only lunch and no breaks!!!

    Advice to Management

Look into your soul and re think your rates and how you treat people.

I have been working at Cottonwood Financial full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

Pay-Compensation is above average. Employee Development- Superiors seem to genuinely care about employees becoming more proficient and developing new skills.

    Cons

Company Culture- Company Culture is nearly nonexistent, although it is slowly moving in the right direction. Paid Time Off- Two weeks paid vacation and one week paid sick time, all of which accrue annually on your hire date. A complete joke compared to companies that are actually concerned with employee PTO. Benefits- Outrageous costs for covering a family, over $1,000 a month. Employees are eligible for a 401K after...

I have been working at Cottonwood Financial full-time for more than 4 years

    Pros

The pay, and working with customers.

    Cons

Pretty much everything! 1. Management from the Corporate Office 2. Misleading customer's 3. The Company culture, or lack thereof 4. The outdated equipment 5. Lack of consistent training 6. Treatment of employees 7. Unrealistic goals 8. Forced to hire subpar people, and fire great employees. The list could really go on and on.

    Advice to Management

Get better equipment, revamp hiring and training policies, promote DM's/ RM's instead of people from Operations as Area and Territory management, maybe then you wouldn't have as much turnover. Money isn't everything, and people should look at why employees are leaving.

I have been working at Cottonwood Financial full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Salary, that is it. No others.

    Cons

Pay is good. Nothing else is. Many of your benefits do not vest until you have been at the company a period of time, and they are terrible at communicating the exact timing of that. They will give you documents before you are hired that leave out that the 401K requires you to already be working there for 12 full months, and will tell you medical vests in 2 months (it doesn't. It's actually more than that). When you...

    Advice to Management

Treat people more fairly across the board. Be more upfront. Have an actual vision / plan you want to execute towards instead of pulling projects out of thin air that quite frankly could be solved by a 3rd grader, and requiring overqualified people to waste their time over-analyzing them.

I have been working at Cottonwood Financial full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The reviews on Glassdoor had me really iffy about even accepting an interview with Cottonwood, and I was pleasantly surprised after being hired on just how much I love this job. The people are smart, professional, and wonderful to work with. Many of the employees, even the younger folks, have been here for 5+ years. That says something, because most millennials cycle through most jobs every 2 years. I absolutely love...

I worked at Cottonwood Financial full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The pay is the only thing I see good about this company. Compensation isn't going to keep people there

    Cons

Micromanagement, Lack of Leadership, Lack of Communication, No Culture, negative environment, Cheap benefits

    Advice to Management

Please train supervisors properly by sending them to conference workshops on how to lead people. Find people who are people persons before you give them that position. Teach them how to relate to people and lite a fire in their co workers instead of underneath them. Also you might want to reduce the interest rates of your loans. Attn Operations team. I understand it's the money maker but if you really cared about...

    Pros

Cottonwood is the perfect fit for me. It's not too big and not too small. You get exposure to upper management, including the CEO/owner, and you are rewarded for hard work and dedication to your job. I've met the CEO.
