I worked at Coty full-time for more than a year

    Pros

PTO Office location in Empire State Building Well known (but rapidly declining) brands

    Cons

Every single consumer beauty brand is in decline Hyper micromanagement Short term tactical decisions encouraged with severe lack of clear long term vision and strategy A lot of people in leadership positions who don’t have a clue what they’re doing but are great at convincing people they do Blame culture High turn over and extremely low morale How can you inspire your team to climb the mountain ahead and turn around...

    Advice to Management

Your people are the drivers of the business and what sets you apart from the competitors, right now everyone’s completely depressed about the way of working and eventually.. you will burn a good employee out. Leaders, be mindful of the impact you’re having on your employees.

I worked at Coty full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Good brands. Lots of vacation/time off (Summer Fridays, week between Xmas and NYE off, PTO, and sick time, federal holidays). Most people are really nice. Good benefits

    Cons

Losing a lot of contract brands. Management doesn't really care. Minimal to no training on systems

Sorry to see you go. You highlighted many things that make Coty a great place to work, but we clearly did not do enough to keep you as part of the team. And please know, Coty management does care; we always want to be available to support the team. Thank you for taking the time ...

    Neutral Outlook
    No opinion of CEO

I worked at Coty full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Generally decent resources i.e. Budget, technology, training etc. Can however be quite corporate for corporates sake (many initiatives are clearly right out of a Harvard business review vs. built on true needs of an employee)

    Cons

Constant change and upheaval. Lack of strategic direction. Middle management is inadequate and therefore Senior management gets involved in decisions they shouldn't need to = too many cooks in the kitchen. No discernible culture expect for an every man for himself mentality.

    Advice to Management

Drive stability....pick a direction and go there.

    - Famous company, everyone knows - Fantastic brands (Rimmel London, Calvin Klein, Chloe...

    Cons

    - Horrible organization. - Bad Managers because of the bad organization. - Too many changes, I had 4 different bosses in 3 years... - You feel like they don't care about you and your career, they care just about the company. - Bad behavior.

    Advice to Management

    Be care of your people.

I have been working at Coty full-time for more than a year

    Pros

401K match up to 6% after 90 days of employment, immediate health benefits, office closed the week of Christmas, 7 Fridays to take off in the summer, 1-2 floating holidays per year, unlimited sick days. 60% discount on products in the company store.

    Cons

Lean organization with limited opportunity for promotion. Lots of nepotism with regard to the hiring process. Those that are promoted are usually those that are "yes men" to their managers/directors. I find that there is not a true spirit of collaboration and have heard team members speak poorly of others behind their backs many times and witnesses one incident where a group actively tried to get others fired by strategizing...

    Advice to Management

Rethink all the meetings that currently happen (especially as many result in no decisions being made) so the brand teams can focus on running the business. Not having a holiday party following the merger with the P&G brands was a HUGE miss from a morale standpoint as it would have enabled us to get to know one another better. Re-evalute internal talent down to the Manager level as there are some Managers that should...

I worked at Coty for more than 8 years

    Pros

It use to be a great place to work for until the new management was brought in about 2years ago. Coty had a company culture that attracted others. It was entrepreneurial and the senior management listened to those below them. It was a great place to work for but that has since changed.

    Cons

They are hiring a lot of people from L'Oreal who are instilling L'Oreal mentality which was not good for moral. A lot of great people have left or being laid off because they are not adopting the new culture. It is becoming what we always criticized about tyrannical companies like L'Oreal.

    Advice to Management

Sadly you have lost or let go a great many of those who made Coty a great company.
