I have been working at Coty full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Beautiful office in Calabasas. Great portfolio of brands for those interested in beauty, specifically in the salon professional category. 1/2 day Summer Fridays and several paid vacation days.

    Cons

Horrible options for digital asset management. I cannot believe we are going back to Sharepoint vs. something more efficient like Box or Dropbox. The hierarchical culture. Sub par employees managing to fail forward. Lack of passion or enthusiasm for the professionals we are supposed to serve. Corporate processes that make us followers vs. first to market. Managers that have conversation amnesia. HR doesn’t look out for the employee’s well being. Their role is to prevent the company from getting sued. Make sure to document everything even if things are going well for you.

    Advice to Management

If we are supposed to win in digital, equip us with better digital systems not 17 year old software. Promote employees on merit not on politics. This is a passion driven industry (both hair and nail), but it got lost somewhere in the merger and move. Re-build this and the teams will have a deeper sense of purpose and probably inspire them to think of the next best thing.

I have been working at Coty full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Awesome portfolio, flexible schedule.

    Cons

Upper Management has no idea what the situation is on the ground. Training is terrible (slideshows without practical application!) Pay is not commensurate with the job, neither is the stress level.

    Advice to Management

Stop making it so easy for talent to make the choice to leave - appreciate your people and they will go over and beyond for the company.

I worked at Coty full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Company paid week vacation in December
    - Well known brands in fun categories
    - Good colleagues

    Cons

    - Poor management
    - Limited opportunities for intellectual growth
    - Lack of clear, strategic goals and vision

Work for Coty if you want to experience the Upside Down alternate dimension. At first, it's difficult to believe you're in a parallel universe with the appearance of tables, laptops, meeting rooms, and other typical office items. However, you will quickly discover that you're fully immersed in noxious fumes promulgated by three demogorgons: 1. Visionless upper management (VPs and above) 2. Absent and incompetent middle management (directors and below) 3. An HR system that pushes employee talent out the door to satisfy the first two demogorgons at the expense of reason and human integrity.

Do not open the "New Coty" gate unless you desire to be warped into a world where VPs and other high level executives rake in astronomical salaries for unimaginative and reckless direction. That senseless direction trickles down to a middle management team that is more concerned with touting accolades from successes in 2000 than they are with being present in 2018. When you visit HR to confirm you're not living in an alternate reality given the level of chaos and dysfunction, you'll realize that you just subscribed to a psychological game where winning is defined by HR's ability to silence employees into accepting a toxic culture that embraces complacency, recycled ideas, and multiple "isms" created by the demogorgons.

Do your mental, physical, and emotional capacities a favor: move on to other stranger things.

    Advice to Management

    - Be transparent at all organizational levels.
    - Promote managers that actually understand people. Content expertise and experience doesn't guarantee quality management.

I have been working at Coty full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good entry -level positions for IT that pays very good starting out.

    Cons

The department will not let you move up even after going to school and obtaining the training and skills that were considered needed in order to advance.

    Advice to Management

Actually look into what is going on inside the departments. Don't have us feel out yearly goals and my talent stuff and it never gets addressed. Been here over 4 years and haven't moved up yet. And that's after going out and getting educated.

I have been working at Coty full-time

    Pros

You have the ability to drive things
You are empowered to own things
This challenging environment is intended for people with confidence and drive, if this is lacking, it may not be the right fit
True appreciation for results - could be shown more by leaders at all levels
Incredible challenge = incredible reward - wouldn't want to work for a company that I didn't feel challenged
Positive movement in the right direction

    Cons

Everything is a priority - this does seem to be shifting and more focus is apparent
Speed is great but at times too much - back to point #1

    Advice to Management

Stay focused on the top messages and help your people do the same
Appreciate and value the effort/results everywhere you can
More transparency - feedback is a gift!
Keep listening to your employees - it feels like there's positive momentum here but still more work to do

    Pros

PTO is beyond fair. Week off between Christmas and NY company wide, paid.
    GREAT product brands -
Employees - mid to low level have passion to win. Together they are driving any results
Entry level employees have lots of growth opportunity
Compensation is on par with competition (for now)

    Cons

Top Execs are getting results by whatever means (legally)
    Top Heavy
Leadership no longer engaged with employee or customer base
Lots of employee cuts mean work being divided to those who remain
    No appreciation for excessive workload
Due to non stop deliverables, cannot take time off which is the #1 perk

    Advice to Management

Be humble - Be grateful - Get engaged
Return to a company of "doing the right thing"

I worked at Coty full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great product, nice atmosphere, nice perks

    Cons

Favoritism in the specific department, discrimination to agism, promises to enhance careers and does not happen, loyalty does not matter, no incentive for promotions,

    Advice to Management

Mean what you say and say what you mean. Appreciate your employees and not just by showing up and give your speeches. All a lie. Loyalty means nothing to this company. Horrible politics.
