I worked at Coty full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Beauty Leader with top prestige and mainstream brands, experiencing growth with buyouts and mergers, three divisions of distribution, Beauty Salons and Spas, Mass Market and Prestige retailers. Worldwide offices and distribution.

    Cons

Due to the growth they have been experiencing, there has been major shake ups all levels of management and unfortunately, has caused gaps in distribution, communication, support and is not meeting required profitability. Major cutbacks on budgeting and a lot of miscommunications within departments and with so many new, less seasoned employees; its causing suffering major losses of market share.

    Advice to Management

New is not always better; too many changes at a time is what's causing the losses and people unhappy and leaving.

I worked at Coty (More than a year)

    Pros

People are nice - feels like being around friends, discounts on merchandise

    Cons

I left before the merger and tempted there 6 months, they spend more time hiring and rehiring temps than fulltime employees. There was one HR person there for the entire company while I was there who I had no interaction with.
-My temp assignment got cut short. I was not able to interact with anyone from HR to look into fulltime positons
-worklife was horrible to the point i was forgetting to pay my bills because i was so busy at work.
-My manager wanted me to complete the work, but did not want to give any OT
-temps do not get paid from Christmas to new years when the office is closed
-corporate does nothing to celebrate its employees, every dept was given a choice to hold their own little holilday party among each other or keep the money to add to your budget.

I worked at Coty full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Luxury brands at employee might be the only positive aspect about the company at the moment but it won't belong before they probably take that away too

    Cons

    Low Morale
    No Resources
    Long Hours
    Executive Team Disconnected from Reality
    Mass Exodus of Remaining Talent
    Disregard for Personal Time

    Advice to Management

Get your feet on the ground & realize the company & unrealistic goals has put the company in serious trouble. Start showing a little consideration for the effort the few talented people that haven't left are contributing before you need to start outsourcing entire functions

I have been working at Coty full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    -Summer Fridays
    - Week between Xmas and New Year off
    - Discount on some product
    - Generally speaking, nice coworkers

    Cons

    - The focus is on the bottom line without regard for employees
    - 3rd or 4th round of consolidations/layoffs since I've been with the company in 5 years
    - Upper management is a mess
    - Lack of focus on innovation
    - It was a much better place to work several years ago before going public

    Advice to Management

We're expected to grow our declining brands without increased investment in the face of little innovation. How is this possible? We continue to acquire brands without figuring out how to run the ones that we already own. Good employees are constantly leaving- figure out why people are leaving and then try to do something to action that.

I worked at Coty full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Summer Fridays
Week off between Christmas and New Years
    Day after thanksgiving off
    Easy commute from Penn
Most people leave on time- depends on he department.
I never stayed past 5 but my friend in another department regularly stays past 10!

    Cons

Direct management is non-existent and the lack of training and on boarding set new people up for failure. Most disturbing to me was the nastiness of employees on immediate team. Last standing employees feel threatened by new people who come in at a higher level. Management has questionable relationships/alliances with staff level employees.
The open floor plan is horrific for getting anything done. Concrete floors echo footsteps, people openly whistle, sing, chew or talk loudly without regard for their coworkers. I can't wait to leave.

    Advice to Management

Make training new employs a priority. Throwing someone the the wolves is not an effective method for ensuring success.

I have been working at Coty full-time

    Pros

    -Summer Fridays
    -Brand Portfolio
    -Office Location

    Cons

Coty was at a much better place before the merger. Since then every aspect of the company seems to be getting worse by the day.

-Lack of communication which leads to duplicated work
    -Zero strategy
    -Constant urgent projects and emails
    -Terrible systems
    -No training or onboarding process
    -Extremely high turn over rate
    -Highly unprofessional leadership

Upper management in my division leaves little to be desired. Their vision changes daily, they have no direction, and are just terrible people overall. The merger has indeed been a tough one, but that is no excuse for leadership to treat their employees disrespectfully. One of the directors screams in his teams faces and threatens to fire them if they don't do a project. The SVP holds once a month pep rallies, making statements such as "we're a team; we're in this together" yet in reality promotes a "you should be grateful to even have a job here" culture. This all in turn has produced a very toxic work environment with an extremely low employee morale.

I truly believe that this will be a great company to work for in a few years but at the moment it is too chaotic.

    Advice to Management

HR needs to take action. Talented employees are quitting on a weekly basis and soon enough there will be none left.

    Pros

A good company with entrepreneurial spirit. Great benefits and fun place to work depending on which group you are in.

    Cons

After P&G integration, what made Coty great has changed. Lots of great potential but overall vision and goal not very clear.

    Advice to Management

Try to maintain the Coty Culture as much as possible.

I have been working at Coty (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good work-life balance, summer hours, time off for x-mas break, 401k, friendly people

    Cons

Merger has been messy and unorganized, many people leaving, brands are suffering

    Advice to Management

Focus on the people who are still with Coty, boost morale, and buy brands that are up and coming - not ones that have peaked
