I worked at Country Inns & Suites (Less than a year)

    Pros

The staff demonstrates a concern for following procedures and keeping their employees happy
Promoting the Club Carlson rewards program provides free hotel stays for employees and the points accumulate fairly rapidly
This job was a lot easier than hotel jobs I've had in the past and overall a great place to work
The general manager of my property was absolutely wonderful!

    Cons

Front desk staff are responsible for folding towels even if there is laundry staff employed, working out scheduling as a full-time student proved to be difficult

    Advice to Management

Overall, you are doing a great job. However, some of your behaviors indicated favoritism towards male employees, and concern for your finances over the well-being of your employees. If you are mindful of these and continue striving to foster a positive and inclusive work environment, your employees will be happier and probably less likely to leave.

I have been working at Country Inns & Suites full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

A lot of down time. Club Carlson member benefits and an occasional cookie here or there. Working solo half of your shift. Very flexible schedule.

    Cons

A lot of down time, during the majority of second shift you will be working the front desk alone. The reason why I say that's a con is when a guest has an issue in their room and you have to go check it out and if someone is coming in to check in they have to wait then they complain or just plain rude when you help them. Or if you get called to a room to help a guest and that guest is being really creepy. As a woman I never felt comfortable going into someone else's room. It's just not safe in my opinion.

    Advice to Management

Keep it professional. No one cares about your personal life. Don't talk down to your employees. Appreciate everyone and the hard work they put in. Don't ask for employees for advice to improve hotel and ignore suggestions.

I have been working at Country Inns & Suites full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Our new management has brought great team appreciation and unity to our company. He fights for us and encourages us to learn what we need in order to further ourselves within the company.

    Cons

We have a high turnover in housekeeping staff but this is not because of our hotel. We have been doing what we can to find new incentives to get applicants coming in more frequently.

    Advice to Management

I think that if the employees got more one on one with the General Manager that it would be a better work experience for them.

I have been working at Country Inns & Suites part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Flexible hours, positive work environment. Every employee likes their job and it shows. Everyone helps each other out and an overall great place to work!

    Cons

Low wages compared to past jobs. Very small number of employees and rooms compared to other hotels. Hard to compete with sales from larger properties because of limited amenities and facilities onsite.

I worked at Country Inns & Suites full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Given your own time to do what you like between customers
    Plenty opportunity for overtime
Co-workers have always been friendly and nice

    Cons

Often left alone for 12 hour shofts, regardless of capacity of the hotel
Absence of a permanent maintenance staff
Bottom line is only concern. Maximum money possible

    Advice to Management

Please hire more staff for the amount of business that's done in the summer. When there are multiple problems all at once, customers are easily frustrated over the wait-- which means you lose more money.

I worked at Country Inns & Suites (Less than a year)

    Pros

The hotel is clean and well taken care of.

    Cons

I was hired as a Shuttle Driver and was to train on the front desk when I was not actually driving. When I went to work, I went on three airport pick ups, the next 7 1/2 hours, I was a janitor, maintenance man, stock room clerk, trash collector, grounds keeper, cookie baker, coffee maker, elevator cleaner, fix the ice machine, and go into a mans room to try to repair his heat, just among a few of my duties for $9.00 hr. I was mislead as to what my duties would be. This was hardly the position I was hired in as Shuttle driver/front desk clerk.

    Advice to Management

Stop trying to save money and hire the appropriate people for the necessary positions, if you can get away with one person being a "jack of all trades" for minimum amount of money, good for you, that person is just not me.
