I worked at Country Road Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Good discounts
    - They promote internally at head office
    - Sample sales are great

    Cons

    - Politics, politics, politics.
    - HR are not at all supportive/don't have any moral compass and are just a robotic arm of the company
    - My personal manager was an absolute control freak and wouldn't let me resign. She was manipulative and everyone beneath her was scared of her.

    Advice to Management

Your people managers don't know how to manage people. And your people team are also robotic and don't understand humans.

I worked at Country Road Group part-time

    Pros

Good discount for lots of brands + David Jones.

    Cons

When retail was doing it tough in WA they took away staff incentives, rewards etc (tightening the budget) should invest/reward staff because they are what represents your company. Happy staff- successful company. Kind of felt like they were punishing us for poor sales results in downturning enconomy.

    Advice to Management

Have faith in your staff, reward those that deserve it and work hard.

I worked at Country Road Group part-time

    Pros

Good staff discount, friendly team and frequent events that we organized casually.

    Cons

Change of management brought a whole different style with less likable managers. Negative motivation through child-like talking to's instead of genuine conversation.

I worked at Country Road Group full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great brands and a lot of good, well meaning people. But where's the leadership in the middle ranks?

    Cons

Head office culture leaves a lot to be desired. Poor behaviour is rewarded both positively (promotions) and negatively (sweeping under the mat), a complete boys club approach and total disregard for 'company behaviours and values' which are written into every contract, but not played out in any way.

    Advice to Management

Think about the words 'people are your biggest asset' and how that can apply to your business, then see if you can grasp how to better drive a healthier culture.
