I worked at Countrywide Full Spectrum full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    good work/life balance
    good benefits
    nice employees to work with
some upper managers were very decent
great culture (or so it seemed at that time)

    Cons

business model based on a lie caused a lot of pain
    politics in upper management
multiple complains to HR from senior managers were not acted upon due to the Managing Director protecting the abusive manager

    Advice to Management

deal with angry senior managers proactively. Don't allow them to abuse employees. HR is useless as always. Don't get surprised when other senior managers take the worker comp.

I worked at Countrywide Full Spectrum full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Co workers. Kind and fun people to work with who had the wool pulled over their eyes just like me.

    Cons

Everything. They were an absolute joke who did nothing but lie. After almost two years I saw what was going down and got out.

    Advice to Management

    Peace.

    Pros

Ability to get you feet in the door and build confidence through a lot of interaction with customers.

    Cons

You can learn a lot about the mortgage industry in a company like Countrywide Fullspectrum Lending, but their churn and burn mentality does not conducive for careers.

    Advice to Management

Train and build a relationship with those who work for you and they will reward you with greater ROI.

    Pros

Pros: Before the bonus structure was changed, there was a potential for an extra $1,500 a month

    Cons

Cons: Long hours, Bad management, low pay, STRESSFUL at the end of the month!!!

    Advice to Management

Recognize how hard your employees work, help them out instead of blaming them for lower monthly numbers

    Pros

Back when it was still in existence, Countrywide had a reasonably satisfactory corporate culture. Management did not go out of it's way to make life difficult for its employees, at least not without good reason.

    Cons

Countrywide could serve as a cautionary tale: if something seems to good to be true, it probably is. Corollary: if something appears unethical, it likely is as well.

    Advice to Management

Former management could offer this advice to others: don't be like us!
