As county government jobs go, it's pretty good.
Oct 2, 2015 - Social Worker II in Las Vegas, NVRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Salary for the work is quite good. Benefits are good too. Do your job, go home at night and do the same thing the next day. Very steady. Possible advancement after a while but even if you don't advance, after 8 or 10 years you can top out of the salary range and get $80k a year. For a bachelor's degree in social work that's pretty good. Even a top out can increase if there is a COLA .
Cons
Management is unaccountable to anyone except the county commissioners. Why ask for workers' opinions when your just going to do what you want to do anyway. Changes are slow to come, but the worst part is when a procedure of policy is changed, management just turns around and goes back to the previous policy or procedure within a few months or a year. Union is only partially helpful.

Nice work environment, sometimes stressful work
Nov 20, 2016 - Judicial Executive AssistantRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Good health benefits. Generally supportive, helpful work environment. I had an excellent boss (each judge is different, but several of them are like mine, very supportive of their staff and friendly to work with). It's a big building, so there is often some kind of celebration going on (holidays, retirement parties, etc.), which means free food :)
Cons
Working for the county courts is stressful by its nature because it deals with deadlines, difficult cases, lawyers, and big workloads. This alone is tough, but it also means coworkers will sometimes be stressed out and you have to deal with them, too. The clerks are part of a union and report to their supervisors (not part of the judicial staff), which is kind of an awkward arrangement sometimes because the judge's goals and the supervisors' goals don't always align. Not all departments have a team that works well together.

Toxic Environment
Jul 19, 2019 - Fire Inspector in Las Vegas, NVRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
The benefits and pay are excellent.
Cons
The County is a very toxic environment and does not care about its employees. There are probably some departments that are managed well, but I know a lot of people all across the county that feel the downtown management does not care about the wellbeing of the employees and they are more concerned with bettering their own careers than looking out for the interests of the citizens.

Overall a good starting position
Jun 12, 2019 - Legal SecretaryRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
The benefits of working for Clark County are the retirement package, decent health insurance, good variety of health care plans and options, room for growth and tuition reimbursement.
Cons
Getting anything done or approved is a long process.

Pros
Salaries, PERS Retirement, Health Insurance
Cons
Employees are a tool to be used and abused by County Management. Management creates an environment of deceit and disloyalty. A very hostile, corrupt work environment. People only work here so they can leave with retirement. It's like selling your soul to the devil.
