I worked at County of DuPage (Illinois) full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

No pros for me to put down. This was the worst job I've ever had my whole life. Treated terribly by management :(

    Cons

Chair bound, don't use the restroom unless you want to be watched like a hawk, don't exercise your right to use FMLA, perfection is required.

    Advice to Management

Management is like a rock, you do what they say when they say it!

I worked at County of DuPage (Illinois) full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

-The nature of the work was very multifacted, I wasn't doing the same thing all day
-Generous breaks (one hour lunch and two additional 20 minute breaks
-There are many employees at the county, so you won't have a hard time finding someone you will be able to click with

    Cons

-There did not seem to be a lot of upward mobility
-Bosses seemed to take advantage of more perks than regular employees, which caused a lot of tension and resentment

    Advice to Management

Because the job can get monotonous, bring more joy into the workplace. Show employees more appreciation and that will show in their work and in their disposition with customers.

Treat your employees with more respect especially if they do everything for you. Don't make then cry

I have been working at County of DuPage (Illinois) full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Paid Government Holidays, beautiful campus, modern facilities, mostly nice co-workers, you can rollover unused sick & vacation days. Located in a nice area.

    Cons

Hard work and dedication count for nothing. Terrible management/leadership. Tyrannical environment. Gag order enforced whenever an employee is terminated without justification. Many negative changes over the past year and a half. Management reaps all the rewards of the hard working hourly staff. Best advice keep your head down do your work and keep your mouth shut until you find another job.

    Advice to Management

Treat employees like they are valuable. Stop making the workplace such a hostile environment. Compensate workers for their hard work not just your managers.

I worked at County of DuPage (Illinois) full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

NO DRUG TESTS!! 1 hour lunch and two 20 min breaks.

    Cons

You will be expected to be perfect in your work. Your mangers will watch you like a hawk. If you go on FMLA for yourself or family expect them to fire you at some point. They do not like the use of FMLA, and will find a way to fire you. THEY ARE AN AT WILL EMPLOYER AND CAN FIRE YOU FIR NO REASON.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees with respect and give them credit. They work hard and without them doing the little dirty work, your office wouldn't run as well as it does. STOP PLAYING FAVORITISM TO CERTAIN FAMILY AND FRIEND EMPLOYEES

I worked at County of DuPage (Illinois) full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

..... lunch break and no drug screen.

    Cons

No chance of ever moving up the ladder unless someone dies.
Managers are two faced and threaten you with being fired if you speak up.
If FMLA is used expect to get fired.
Too many relatives working together, ie my former manager was also the manager of his sister.
Little to no raise, not even cost of living, I went three years without any raises.
Morale is very low because of the pay.
    Benefits aren't very good.
Managers expect employees to correct judges and attorneys that we have no say over.
You are expected to give legal advice although legally we aren't allowed too.
    Never shown respect from management.
Management way over paid. ie. employee of 10 years makes around 35k. Manager of 5 years make 110k!
Many employees on are on drugs

    Advice to Management

Retire or quit, you are all a joke and can't run the office.
