I worked at County of Sacramento full-time

    Pros

Good security and benefits with decent pay.

    Cons

Unfortunately, government work will tend to create a culture of laziness and the few of us who actually work will have to do a lot more than most.

    Advice to Management

Please try and hold your staff to a reasonably high standard. It sometimes seems as though you are merely waiting out your retirement.

I worked at County of Sacramento full-time

    Pros

Job security once probation is passed. Benefits are excellent. Most positions are office 9-5. Occasional overtime is offered by managers/supervisors. If that is what you prefer then you'll likely be pleased.

    Cons

Downsides could include negative coworkers. You can't be terminated for just any reason but bear in mind that neither can your negative coworkers so you'll need to manage your expectations. Also, most positions are union(UPE). You might feel a certain way about that depending on your politics but either way your union dues will be deducted on a bi-weekly basis.
