Pros
The team I worked on was fantastic, and ended up feeling like more of a family. Surrounded by a lot of talented and passionate people. Support of ESG was fantastic, with volunteer time off, money to contribute to causes, and actual product efforts to help make the world a better place. Focus on the customer community was genuine and significant effort went into connecting customers with other customers to share best practices and be "smarter together".
Cons
Too many layers of leadership (which is probably being rectified after recent layoffs) and silos for positions made it difficult to collaborate and really make an impact. A lot of workaholism led to challenges in work life balance despite the unlimited time off policy. Leaders in executive positions that had tenure but potentially didn't have the skill-set needed to actually be doing the job. A lot of "you've been here many years" type leaders vs innovative and exciting leadership. Many acquisitions made for competing tech stacks and overlap across teams.

Chief People Officer July 2023 Thank you for your comments. We will be more agile and responsive to organizational changes, shifting from "growth at all costs" to a sustainable and balanced approach. Having shared goals across the company is vital to success because it ensures cross-functional alignment and that we are each focused on excellent work. Your feedback is essential. I’d like to extend an opportunity to meet with me personally to discuss your feedback.

Pros
Sales leadership empower you to do what it takes to close an opportunity.
Cons
One round of layoffs already, now many in sales getting PIPs with goals which are impossible. I assume this is to force resignations and avoid severance and unemployment. This company was once a fun place to be. Now it is gloomy, empty, and soulless. Most of my friends are now gone. When Rob left, so did the culture.

Pros
Coupa navigated the pandemic fairly well, even continuing remote work options at large. The over all culture was fun and big ideas welcomed. Upsidedown org chart was done well over all and I felt my voice could be heard. Compensation was fine when RSU/ESPP and bonuses are included
Cons
Coupa is no longer the same Coupa it was before the acquisition and C-level changes so hoping those cons are no longer cons! Departmental budget restrictions were extreme for some, yet non-existent for others. A few cases of keeping toxic individuals on forcing good employees to leave or endure the toxicity. Pretty normal for a company but still a major con to see peers go through it. Tendencies to be very "Bro-ish" but was continuing efforts to be more inclusive and diverse

Chief People Officer June 2023 We are going through some changes. We are committed to being more team-driven and focusing on our customers with our values at the core. Collaboration and flexibility also continue to be fundamental to our culture. We also recognize the market dynamics and the movement from a public company to a private one were challenging. We will continue to work on remaining competitive and enhancing the employee experience. Thank you for sharing your feedback.

Pros
The people there are great! Everyone is figuratively on the same team and working toward the same goals. The UX team is top notch and you can learn and grow a lot.
Cons
They were recently acquired by a VC firm. A month or so later the CEO left, a few weeks after that layoffs galore. My team had about 1/3 of their 30 or so let go. I can't know about the rest of the company but people everywhere were sending goodbyes. The transitional CEO said they wanted to "reset" from growth to "profitability". FYI: The company was previously profitable.

Chief People Officer September 2023 The SaaS industry's shift from “growth at all costs” to sustainable growth and profitability is one we take seriously to protect our company, customers, partners, and employees. With change comes the inevitable movement and departure of employees and leadership. We approached our reset deliberately and thoughtfully. Our changes were prudent to deal with today’s headwinds and set a foundation for moving forward. We wish you the best in your next role.

Pros
The people are great, competent
Cons
Culture became unstable after acquisition
1Coupa Software Inc Response2w
Chief People Officer September 2023 Thank you for your review. To get at the essence of any cultural challenge, our leadership team will look to understand how we have worked traditionally and to consider whether that’s the right way to work going forward. “What have we done well? What might we do better? And, frankly, does the culture we want to drive going forward even match the culture we’ve brought into acquisition?”

Pros
Best Platform on the Market, Great Benefits, and untapped potential of the $4.9 trillion in spend data. Coupa is the clear leading Platform in the Enterprise Market and the key Product Executives are still with Coupa. There will be change with the TB acquisition but with change brings opportunity.
Cons
Unknowns with the acquisition by Thoma Bravo and new CEO search . The new CEO will be a key hire.

Chief People Officer July 2023 We are committed to being more team-driven and continue to focus on our customers with our values at the core. With change comes growth, and we are excited about our search for a new CEO. While we stopped granting RSUs when we went private, our RSU grants were converted, and those grants that still deliver value will vest along the same schedule.
