I have been working at Covidien full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great opportunities for sales and marketing folks looking for different types of roles. Plenty of opportuities to learn and grow with a solid networking approach.

    Cons

Bit of a bureaucracy. Political games. Experience can vary tremedously manager-to-manager. Not very nimble with internal processes.

    Advice to Management

    Less bureaucracy.

I worked at Covidien full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Covidien has some great products on the Endovenous side of the business. Strong field sales groups before the layoffs in October 2012.

    Cons

Employees are treated like a number. It doesn't matter how well you perform your job or awards you have won when they cut/layoff you are still just a number. Marketing has missed the "mark" so many times. Always chasing the competition and missing prime opportunities.

    Advice to Management

Realize talent when you have it. Remove dead weight. Just because someone lives in the correct area doesn't mean they are doing a great job. You cut the wrong people.

    No opinion of CEO

    I worked at Covidien

    Pros

Autonomy to run territory without micromanaging Above average benefits for industry Exceptional budgets for conducting business, no spending cuts Most who sell for Covidien are people I would hang out with outside of work

    Cons

Total earning ability leaves a lot to be desired and below average Comp structure is confusing and very general to entire US, not territory specific Significant lack of innovation in product development and acquisition

    Advice to Management

Need a more competitive comp plan that is less confusing and doesn't require an algorithm to decipher your paychecks. Step out of commodity products and in to technologies for the future
