    I worked at Covidien full-time

    Pros

    1. Interesting work making vital health care products. Latitude to run shift your way.

    2. Good benefits and bonus.

    Cons

    1. Working periodic weekend shifts (12 hours each day, 24 total) for no extra pay or comp time. Same applies to all overtime, which is frequent.

    2. Management working in opposition to one another.

    3. When interviewing, I was told that there are many opportunities for advancement. After a couple years, I asked about advancement opportunities and was told to seek elsewhere for that. So I did and quit.

    Advice to Management

Work together to accomplish meeting customer needs. Also need to do more development for your teams.

I worked at Covidien full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Decent opportunities for the motivated to grow and develop within the company. The pay was slightly above average. Likable senior leadership.

    Cons

Projects always handed down at the last minute. Many middle managers promoted on tenure instead of ability, so lots of confusion. low commission payout.

    Advice to Management

The things you do well- Do more of them. Inspect what you expect of the management team. More 360 surveys.

I worked at Covidien as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Great coworkers that were willing to help out in any way. They were helpful when a new employee was hired and would show them the ropes.

    Cons

Management was absent and did not understand the pressure put on the team. There was a lack of training provided to new employees and a big turn over because of that. The team would have to make up for the loss of parts per hour for each new employee that was hired.

    Pros

At first they seemed a little unstructured but with the acquisitions of companies they purchased, more structure was put in place and was a good place to work. Half day Fridays in the summer!

    Cons

A little old fashioned. It took a little bit for the company to look outside the box.
