I worked at Cox Communications full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Great Base Pay
    Management is helpful

    Cons

They recently changed the ramp period for new AEs. While I was there for less than two years I saw at least 10 new AEs get fired while many top performers left the business. Although sales managers are helpful, upper management creates a very negative environment where you don't know if you'll have your job the next day. This caused a lot of great performers to leave Cox.

    Advice to Management

Create more realistic targets. When only the performers who have been there for 2 years plus are hitting quota, it could be time for a change.

I worked at Cox Communications full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

benefits are great, free cox services for your home

    Cons

in the cox business side, fellow empolyees will do anything and everything to steal your sales, and management does nothing to protect you. commission plan is extremely confusing, you must constantly check for errors in your commissions. I worked there 5 yrs, and the last yr all the top sales reps left for c-link or other jobs due to the lack of caring by mid market managers

    Advice to Management

    clean house...fire all managers

Need to be a sheep and do what you are told. Thinking outside the box isn't wanted.

    No opinion of CEO

I worked at Cox Communications full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

They pushed community involvement enough that it often made for some fun 'work' events, which were paid for by Cox.

    Cons

Management changed like a bad game of musical chairs, and each new manager brought a new system for micromanaging your activity. None of which could be used for your own prospect tracking.

    Advice to Management

Be useful if possible. Otherwise, let reps sell. If they're not selling....get rid of them. If they are selling, leave them alone. They're not reporting or tracking reps....sales reps.

Very little turnover so opportunities for advancement are scarce.
