I have been working at Cox Enterprises full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Cox is an excellent company to work for - a very diverse company that believes and supports it's employees and make significant commitments in dollars and volunteer hours to the communities in which it operates. In addition to Cox Enterprises, there are three divisions - Cox Communications, Cox Automotive, and Cox Media Group. It's a private company so while the bottom line is important, they have significant flexibility to focus on the longer term results instead of just the next quarter.

    Cons

The company is going through some major organizational change in many of it's divisions as they consolidate subsidiaries and work towards a single mindset but that's not easy with a wide mixture of acquired companies often with different cultures from Cox.

    Advice to Management

With Cox currently over $18 million in revenue and significant growth plans, it is becoming increasingly important to centralize strategy and decision making at the enterprise level and then pushing down those strategies especially for enterprise software applications. There is significant waste of time and resources with so many different systems and processes. While operating independently in the past was a good thing as it empowered employees at the division or subsidiary level, the company is simply growing too big to keep that strategy at least for enterprise-wide major strategic decisions. Recent efforts to move to common systems for HR and Accounting are solid steps in the right direction but those efforts need to expand to other areas and accelerate.

    Pros

Great benefits, tuition reimbursement, beautiful campus, state of the art fitness facilities that are free to all employees, great cafeteria with affordable prices for breakfast and lunch, the ability to carve your career path, numerous development opportunities inside and outside of the company, employee discounts, employee appreciation, rewards point for employees, 18 days of PTO starting out, most holidays off, work from home opportunities, family like culture,

    Cons

With the large campus sometimes people prefer conference calls instead of face to face meetings to minimize travel time.

    Pros

Work to life balance, benefits, pay, flexible hours, nice gym, nice cafeteria, relaxed dress code. Its a good place to work and retire if you can make it pass and be able to be in a safe position without the reorganization of departments.

    Cons

Heavy politics and lack of coordination between departments make it hard to understand department make ups. Departments are silo'd and lack of communication between departments. No real collaboration with each department even though we depended on the other departments with work and escalations. Limited career options and movement in positions. Leadership at the end were very hush and treated employees like externals even after years of service and work. Training and documentation is lacking.

    Advice to Management

No advice and to refer to cons.
