I worked at Cox Media Group as an intern

    Pros

Friendly co-workers, good hours, decent pay.

    Cons

Not diverse enough, a bit unorganized.

I have been working at Cox Media Group (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Get to experience new things, meet lots of people and network.

    Cons

The money is minimal in this type of business and you're at the mercy of assignments.

    Advice to Management

When you have a good long-term employee, even freelance, why not give them a bonus or up the rates. They've got the connections to find the stories and make it happen.

I have been working at Cox Media Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Some people care about your wellbeing. Others, not so much. They take care of you during severe weather, but you're still forced to work 12+ hours.

    Cons

It's challenging. You must know what you're doing in order to jump right in. They'll throw you in and either you sink or you swim. Hours are never consistent. You won't know your schedule looks like in the near future.

    Advice to Management

Producers are just as valuable as reporters. We should get cool gear like rain jackets as well. Without your producers, the show won't go on. Show us your appreciation.

I worked at Cox Media Group part-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Loved working there, fellow employees were great to work with & it was often a fun atmosphere to be in! Some cool perks too!

    Cons

Hard to advance, very few positions come available & it's tough to get them when they do! Pay is not the greatest for what the company has to offer & how successful they are, you would think it would be Much better!

    Advice to Management

Cox is really a great place to work but you should pay much more attention to the talent that you actually have working there & utilize them more within the company & pay them better for their skills & they won't leave, some people with great skills get overlooked & don't get the opportunities they deserve & leave for other places! Create more opportunities & reward those who put in the time & have the skills with those opportunities!

I have been working at Cox Media Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The company offers great benefits. They offer a lot of training for the ever evolving industry. The culture is very inclusive and fun (half the time).

    Cons

There is no room for growth for finance folks. A lot of the jobs are being delegated back to Atlanta. The pay does not reflect the amount of work, but it could be worst. The workload increases, but the pay does not increase as it should. The industry is always evolving and i feel like a dog chasing its tail. Capability to work from home should be allowed to those who are not client facing, not just favorites or on special occasion.

    Advice to Management

Focus on making the support teams happy too. Without the support teams, the sales reps cant go out and bring in the money.

I worked at Cox Media Group as an intern

    Pros

Great amenities if you work at HQ. Everyone is very friendly

    Cons

Just not great experience for marketing intern. Job description did not match what I was asked to do, had to actively search out opportunities to learn and work on different things. Other interns were asked to do relevant, new things that fostered learning.
