    Pros

As my degree of study is in psychology this has been a great starting job overall. I have learn much from the experience of the job an the coworkers. The staff will work to have your back and keep each other safe. They are caring an therapudic to the patients and to each other. Overall the job can be rewarding.

    Cons

Much like many other jobs mangagement can hold the staff back in their ability to provide a safe and therapudic enviroment for all both staff and patients. Though they may try to be involved they tend to be more of a hinderence at times than a help in situations that are critical.

    Psychiatric technican level ll

    Pros

You get to actually help people who are depressed and teach them coping skills. At the end of the day you feel like you did some good in the world. Good insurance and benefits, decent eto, 75 percent good coworkers, steve edwards the ceo actually cares, and good supervisors. You get to make a difference in a patient's life sometimes. Out of all the floors f200 adult pysch ll is the best as well as senior adult psych. F300 adult psych l and child adolescent are not as good.

    Cons

It seems hard for them to fire people that are lazy and don't do their jobs. You might be the hard worker and have a coworker on patient care with you that sits in the nursing station all night. Also I have gone to staff assists to help with aggressive patients and been sent back to my floor due to me being a woman. Men seem to be valued more and not by management but by nurses. Even if you are a good deescalator and a woman, your male coworker will be valued more. When performing safety checks every 15 minutes you are not allowed to do anything else so it can get boring. Usually they will have you switch off every 2 or 4 hours. You could get hurt with an out of control patient however they train you well and your coworkers have your back. You may have to float to another psych floor however that is easy and usually happens 2 times every 6 months. Some people micro manage even when not in charge. Some gossip as well. You hear some heart breaking patient stories. They prefer a bachelors degree but hire some non educated people which makes you feel like you went to school for no reason except an extra 50 cents and hour.
