I worked at Cpsi full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Salary starts low, but increases quickly enough if you can just push past the all the travel. Travel is high with emergency travel on a minutes notice. You have to carry a travel bag to work. Most travel is to rural areas which is nice. Clients are rural hospitals and are for the most part great to work with. Most company staff are great, but like all companies, there are some rough spots. They are growing...

    Cons

Travel at a minutes notice. Amount of travel (easily make platinum level frequent flyer). Little more professionalism for SOME upper management. There's never a reason to yell or use profanity with an employee. Note that this only concerns one upper management employee. The rest follow David's mold to varying degrees.

    Advice to Management

Need to have more consistency between department & division policies. Build teams across department / division. Build a sense of employee ownership of the issues as well as company movement. I think a lot of employees are getting the feeling that nothing they say will matter. Have more accountability of upper management to the rest of the company.

I have been working at Cpsi full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Good health insurance 401k with matched contribution of up to $1,000 per year

    Cons

Management rules by fear and lacks any true management skills, as all promotions are internal, and a result of conforming the the backstabbing company culture. Promotions are given based on politics rather than ability. Upper management promotes yes men that will do exactly as they're told without asking questions or giving suggestions. Middle management gossips about employees, and uses this gossip in yearly reviews....

    Advice to Management

Happy employees will result in happy clients! A serious overhaul of management staff is needed. Just because you've been with the company for 20 years does not mean you are management material. Open your eyes, and listen to the employee majority. Many people say that this company has an "ivory tower" mentality. This is a problem that should be addressed. Encourage middle management to provide positive reinforcement....

I have been working at Cpsi

    Pros

Good healthcare, has ok dental, and available vision coverage. Pay is decent for Mobile. There are some good people at the rep level. Good about letting employees use vacation w/o issue

    Cons

An overall crummy place to work Management doesn't know the meaning of the word. Leadership is non-existent. Training process leaves employees barely capable of doing their job. Promotions are not merit based, or experience based. It all comes down to politics, friendships, and a popularity contest. Support documentation is as weak as the outdated code. There is no true 'support' documentation. Just the mediocre,...

    Advice to Management

Pay better wages to attract and keep better employees. Recognize that traveling 50-70% is not a job perk or popular. Lay out installs to match staffing levels. take an honest look at how things are now, admit that it's bad, and fix it

    I worked at Cpsi

    Pros

I've made some good friends at CPSI. Profit sharing was once decent. Job security. The turnover is a bit high (mostly from employee dissatisfaction), but if you get hired and do your basic duties you will be okay.

    Cons

Salary is not very competitive. Very old legacy code (they've been in business since 1979), that just gets band-aided. Used to be a good place to work, but not so much anymore. Before the company went public, the company treated employees better, actually cared about them. Would hold events and get-togethers, to show employee appreciation, recognition. Employees felt good about working for CPSI. All of this went...

    Advice to Management

Look for some really good programmers and software/hardware techs who can rewrite your old code and bring it to current software standards. Whether it's web applications, Windows applications, or other software applications, new programming languages are faster, more efficient, allow for quicker development and newer, better features. Coupled with new hardware that's currently available, this will create a gold standard....
