I have been working at Cracker Barrel part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The jobs are always different. I have the opportunity to stay busy and help where I can. I love talking to the customers and the people that I work with.

    Cons

One thing that can be a bit more difficult to get used to would be standing for hours at a time

    Advice to Management

Enforce employee breaks and build the into the schedule.

I have been working at Cracker Barrel full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great Compensation. Neat concept. Great systems to utilize. There is not much else I would say that is a positive.

    Cons

No Quality of Life what so ever. Typical work week is 70-80 hours, 6 days a week, and expected to still work from home.

    Advice to Management

Look into thee quality of life of your managers, the labor requirements for the hourly team prevent managers from doing their jobs effectively. Labor charts do not come close to what hourly compensation actual is. Some positions are 3 dollars hour different, so we are unable to schedule the amount of hours the company expects yet we are still held to the percent target.

I worked at Cracker Barrel part-time

    Pros

Flexible schedule. Usually could get off any day I needed to so long as I asked about two weeks in advance.

With few exceptions, the other servers I work with were all wonderful.

Sunday mornings are when you usually make the most money. With just two small tables I could easily clear $100 in a few hour shift.

    Cons

Long hours. Whenever your schedule says you can clock out really just means whenever you're cut from the floor. All the side work can easily take minimum an extra thirty minutes, providing there's enough silverware to roll and you're not waiting on that.

Horrible customers. Unless you have a good section in the front dining room, don't expect to make much Sunday night through Thursday night.

I was never comped for the nights when I didn't make minimum wage. All the managers did was threaten to put me back in training because "if I didn't make minimum wage, it meant I was giving bad service".

Also where I saw my very first thumb-sized cockroach.

We apologize that you had an experience that is less than we would expect at any of our locations. Good luck in your future endeavors.

I worked at Cracker Barrel as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

I worked as a contractor for Cracker Barrel for about a year. The people I worked with were knowledgeable, welcoming and easy to work with.

    Cons

The staff I reported to did seem a bit overwhelmed. At times I had to wait for them to get me things and it could take days. It was unfortunate, because if they had a little less to do and could have focused just a little bit of time on my project regularly, my project would have moved a lot faster and they would have been twice as productive.

    Advice to Management

In the training department, consider your priorities carefully and hire accordingly. If training is such a priority (which it seems to be), then maintain the staff to do it well.

    Cons
