I worked at Cracker Barrel part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Easy to request off, short work shifts, discount off restaurant food and retail products, fast opportunities to get a raise, paid weekly

    Cons

Awful management, barely work during the weeks, expect to know everything before being trained, scheduling is hectic and changes every week.

    Advice to Management

-set a fixed schedule for employees
-treat employees better and like humans instead of work horses
-don't get mad at retail/cashier when a customer is dissatisfied with restaurant service

I worked at Cracker Barrel part-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

They will work around your school or primary job schedule

    Cons

They could care less about their employees. I worked there off and on for over 30 years. I found a $100 bill, turned it in, was promised after 30days if unclaimed it was mine, they changed their minds and kept it!!!

    Advice to Management

Forget having a family, treat your employees with respect!!

    Pros

The kitchen staff was very friendly @ the Music Valley Drive location.

    Cons

There was a constant problem with servers stealing other servers rolled silverware. Also, I had went

    Advice to Management

I had to go to the ER/Hospital due to a fracture disk, called Managers more than once to inform them of injury. No return call. Once I came back to work with my hospital note, I was terminated for a "no call, no show".

I worked at Cracker Barrel part-time

    Pros

None that I can think of

    Cons

Worst company to work for. Only thinks of selling to the customers the second they walk through the door. Don't care at all about the customer just the sale.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees like human beings

    Pros

The discount only in the restaurant and store.

    Cons

Penalized for changing availability. Management not knowing how to do their jobs as a manager. They do not care about their employees. They only care about the money.

    Advice to Management

    DO YOUR JOBS.

I worked at Cracker Barrel part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Some of the customers are very sweet

    Cons

Manager was rude, sexist, and overall really terrible at his job
Many of the servers were mean (and got angry at hosts for doing their jobs)
Low level of cleanliness for a restaurant
    No break during shift
Not allowed to keep a water bottle during shift
    Unnecessarily strict dress code
    Miserable working conditions
Hosts have to clean the bathrooms

    Advice to Management

Be nicer, and encourage the staff to treat one another better. Also, clarify before hiring that hosts will be expected to clean bathrooms, because I wouldn't have taken the job if I had known due to my pre-existing medical conditions that are worsened by exposure to harsh chemicals. Additionally, pay more attention to how the management treats the employees, and ask the staff how they feel about their supervisor's management approach. And finally, make sure that the staff truly uphold cleanliness standards (the people who give you your menus and silverware should not be the same ones cleaning the bathrooms, that is just asking for food contamination). Oh and please cease to instruct employees to glare at customers in order to turn tables faster, that is just rude - you work for the customers, so treat them thusly.

    Pros

Zero--and keep my review anonymous please!!

    Cons

This is probably one of the worst experiences of my life. This Company comes off so attractive, because of their food, and selling nostalgia but TOTALLY without a heart to it.
They are mercenary, abusive, degading, rude, inconsiderate, and unappreciative to all employees. You will be just a warm body to make them money. I watched each day, the abuse, and most employees would end up in tears. Some would walk out. The company breaks the labor laws, with no breaks or lunches, and no pay to get into costume. I watched customers come to me, because they had heard the abuse in the kitchen, first hand, or because an emplot told them, and several said that they had not heard such demoralization size them being in the war, as customers are high perceeof veterans, and they do not even give vetere a discount!
    PLEASE dont work here!

    Advice to Management

Hire someone with a beating heart, and a conscience, to be the CEO, and change this place.

I worked at Cracker Barrel part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great friendly guest, wonderful retail items. There were good candies and jams. Good movies and CD's. Always something new being put out on the sales floor.

    Cons

Switch from sales floor to cashier kept you from seeing new products on the sales floor. Talking with guest so much ,I was always thirsty and couldn't get a drink. You also at times COULD NOT go to the restroom, no matter how bad you needed to. It was to the point of pouring sweat and feeling sick to your stomach, but you still couldn't leave the cash stand.
Wanted the full time position that they were hiring for and was told that I could make $9.50 hr. maybe could get $9.80 an hr. but all I got was $9.00 hr. (That really did suck!!!). A new person was hired right when hours were cut. I was only scheduled 9 hours for my scheduled week. Who can live on that? My schedule was cut drastically for the first 3 weeks of January and I don't think it will improve anytime soon. It was time for me to find a new job!

    Advice to Management

Nothing that I say will make any difference

    Pros

Pros: Hours are decent, some weeks will give a little bit of overtime

    Cons

Cons: Everything I can possibly think of. They won't give you breaks, the work is absolute hell, the pay is not that good, very hectic, etc.

    Advice to Management

Get more workers to not strain out your current workers. 3 people in the dish pit is the most frustrating thing ever. It could be a walk in the park if we always had 4 or 5 but they consider that to much and just send us home!

    Keep it simple.
