I have been working at Cracker Barrel full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I love Cracker Barrel, I met my wife here, I grew professionally, and it stands for what I believe. The food is great.

    Cons

Understaffed managers, unobtainable metrics, long work hours(like 65-70), unrealistic expectations to achieve with as little money to accomplish as possible . DM don't mind cussing and dropping GD in front of people without considering it to be offensive. NSF standards are ridiculous, auditors are embarrassed to do them cause they are so harsh. Job threatened on a daily basis

    Advice to Management

Stop rolling out so many initiatives, task reduction was supposed to come with no more initiatives for the rest of the year to focus on guest in FOH and we never stopped. The idea of opening 25 stores a year is absurd. Who is going to manage them? The quality of this great company is going to deminish due to the quantity. People who have no business bring promoted will be your associate managers and GMs will be fast tracked from other companies knowing the bare basics about Cracker Barrel. I've already seen this in SAM class already. Desperation to fill voids will take over and the quality of Cracker Barrel we decline. This coming from a truly passionate employee who has given his life and more to this place only to see devastation of the very Brand I love. Which leaves me regretably looking elsewhere for employment.

I worked at Cracker Barrel full-time

I worked at Cracker Barrel part-time

    Pros

Flexible schedule. Usually could get off any day I needed to so long as I asked about two weeks in advance.

With few exceptions, the other servers I work with were all wonderful.

Sunday mornings are when you usually make the most money. With just two small tables I could easily clear $100 in a few hour shift.

    Cons

Long hours. Whenever your schedule says you can clock out really just means whenever you're cut from the floor. All the side work can easily take minimum an extra thirty minutes, providing there's enough silverware to roll and you're not waiting on that.

Horrible customers. Unless you have a good section in the front dining room, don't expect to make much Sunday night through Thursday night.

I was never comped for the nights when I didn't make minimum wage. All the managers did was threaten to put me back in training because "if I didn't make minimum wage, it meant I was giving bad service".

Also where I saw my very first thumb-sized cockroach.

We apologize that you had an experience that is less than we would expect at any of our locations. Good luck in your future endeavors.

I worked at Cracker Barrel part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

There is not any..only false promises...

    Cons

Lack of training... False promises... Poor trainers

    Advice to Management

I made a 95% on one test and 88% on another test.. You would think you would schedule me on the day I was suppose to take my Par test.. False promises is why I quit..if you are full staffed than don't hire people that you don't really want and make false promises and waste their time..

To let the main office know...Joplin does do a lot of favoritism so this may not apply to all the companies but it needs to be looked into

I worked at Cracker Barrel full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

If you're a server, this place may be a good option for you. Maybe.

    Cons

I was paid minimum wage and was doing the work of 5 people. There is no way you can work here and not live in constant stress. They are understaffed, most likely due to poor wages and poor treatment. I confirmed with multiple employees that I was there to replace 5 other people doing the same job. Impossible.

    Advice to Management

Stop being heartless and treating your employees like worthless slaves.

    Advice to Management

Start treating your employees like you would want your relatives to be treated at Thier jobs. They are humans that you are treating like garbage.
