I worked at Crane Aerospace & Electronics full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Crane Aerospace & Electronics is a well rounded established OEM supplier of niche type aircraft components. I liked Crane as they are a well balanced company with engineering and manufacturing all onsite.

    Cons

Perhaps not enough strength of demand in aerospace parts. The components/systems they do supply are not always required by aircraft companies. Consequently, business can be slow, markets may not require their product and employees may not be in demand for employment. Crane has had several layoffs at various periods of time. It would be desirable if Crane had a better and stronger diversified business class of product line to keep employees employed, even when market is slow in a certain product line.

    Advice to Management

Recommend expanding new business of aerospace product line systems.

    Pros

    Great co-workers to work with.

    Cons

There was no looking forward regarding the development of new products. Management seemed stuck on the status quo. Wanted to change things but were unwilling to support any changes. The benefits were disappearing faster every year.

I have been working at Crane Aerospace & Electronics full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    1. Crane pays well. If pay is a major deciding factor, you won't be disappointed.
    2. The company culture is pretty easygoing. There are no stuffy dress codes and you aren't expected to abide by a strict schedule. Depending on your department, your hours can vary as much as you want them to.
    3. The managers and supervisors really care about their people.
    4. The people here are generally cool and easy to work with.
    5. You get an extra week of vacation over the Christmas holiday, paid!

Added bonus: the Redmond campus is lovely. There are plenty of trees, flowers, and hiking trails nearby.

    Cons

    1. Their benefits package leaves a lot to be desired. The premiums are low but the coverage is minimal.
    2. There are very few, if any, training and advancement opportunities. Your only real opportunity to advance is if someone leaves.
    3. You may or may not experience significant downtime during slower production periods.
    4. It's not a "fun" place to work, contrary to the stereotype of other technology companies.

    Pros

Great people who generally work well together and produce good products and services. Collaboration is an excellent strength in any company.

    Cons

Intimidation is not a productive management tactic. Employee creativity and spirit will be depressed, and employees leave at the first opportunity for another company.

    Advice to Management

Learn to lead without demotivating. Intimidation is not a productive management tactic. Employee creativity and spirit will be depressed, and employees leave at the first opportunity.

I worked at Crane Aerospace & Electronics as a contractor

    Pros

A paycheck every week, some friendly employees to work wih

    Cons

No help or communications to new employees. They point you to a desk and computer and expect you to know every aspect of the company with no training. They expect you to fail!

    Advice to Management

Teach new employees from the beginning so they can succeed in their job. Do not set them out on their own and when a mistake is made then play the blame game
