    Pros

Great company. Lots of hard working and caring people. Lots of opportunities to show you are smart and driven if you are interested in upward mobility. Overall highly recommend; you won't find a better company to work for.

    Cons

Communication between different functional departments could be improved. Lack of alignment on goals and priorities is counter-productive.

    Advice to Management

Take on initiatives to improve interdepartmental communication and better align goals so all team members work together efficiently.

I worked at Crane Aerospace & Electronics full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

In a single word - "People". There are fantastic and very talented people at Crane Aerospace, however turnover and mass retirement of legacy employees is really changing the landscape. The company's product offerings are well diversified, which makes the work interesting and challenging.

    Cons

Crane Company based out of Connecticut, set out to bring Operational Excellence and LEAN to the company via their self proclaimed "Crane Business System". Well they did, and in doing so stripped the company of its spirit and soul, demonstrating that respect for employees was no longer a priority.

It is only the great people at the company who have gutted it out and remained that keeps this company afloat. Employees are seen as a completely expendable resource, equivalent to toilet paper.

While operational excellence should always be strived for, at this point Crane corporate (who operates this west coast company using 19th century east coast methodologies) now reduces costs by abusing salaried employees, expecting them to work 30%+ overtime with no compensation, despite Crane Aerospace incredible profitability, propping up the other mostly poor performing commercial companies in the Crane portfolio . This for new employees for a year or two. Management remains in quiet denial, wanting to believe that the entire workforce is just oblivious to this situation. Sad, but in their defense, their hands are tied by Crane corporate.

When employees leave the company instead of replacing them, the company piles their work on an already overloaded workforce, and takes a pat on the back for being LEAN and accomplishing more with less. In my last couple years there, I witnessed an unprecedented exodus from the company, of salaried employees, including managers, who are expected to work 60+ hour weeks for a base salary and no overtime, while those at the very top reap the benefits of "running LEAN" and "high profitability".

A big contribution to record profits and executive bonuses, has been a constant "chipping away" at employee compensation and benefits. Raise pools down to nothing, including years with no raises. Retirement and medical benefits reduced in recent years etc. Not a place that a young employee just out of school can afford to work for very long (just long enough to include on a resume).

    Advice to Management

I really have little advice to Crane Aerospace Management, as the behaviors described above are driven by Crane Company. Anyone in Lynnwood or Burbank who pushes back on these business ideologies are eliminated.

Crane company should stop patting themselves on the back, and instead value employees and hard working management folks, to differentiate them from other resources like pens, pencils, and toilet bowl cleaner.

    Pros

If you are lucky, you get to team up with some hard working smart people who will do whatever it takes to get the job done right. The complexity of problem solving is very appealing.

    Cons

Too many! You learn everything not to do in a company here. Upper and middle management lack insight and foresight. Always fire fighting. No one cares enough to fix the deep rooted problems because everyone is surviving just above water. Always answering to unrealistic schedule and goals with disillusioned planning. Compensation is not correlated with ability, work productivity or dedication. People burn out easily and without appreciation then they leave.

    Advice to Management

    Need complete overhaul.

    Cons

There are always little things with every big company but nothing that would make me look elsewhere for a job.

    Pros

    Good people to work with.

    Cons

They stopped caring about their employee's and overworked them causing a lot of Stress and a negative environment - management and employee turn over was getting out of control. I worked there many years and at the end no longer wanted to go...they also keep taking employee perks away instead of increasing them or even maintaining them!

    Advice to Management

Quit overworking all your employee's and hire help!
