I worked at Crane Aerospace & Electronics (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Some good, educated people across manufacturing and engineering; most have the best intentions for the bottom line.Salary comparable to other companies in area.

    Cons

Too many chiefs with contradicting opinions.
Fire drills at every month end.
Reluctant to weed out the chaff.
    High turnover. Benefits below average.
Favoritism to those willing to play the politics.
"Carpet Land" personnel act as though they are better than the rest.

    Advice to Management

Take a long honest look at the people you have, are they truly keepers or just talk a good game? Promote those worthy. Listen to the supervisors, they know best, have their finger on the pulse and want the best for the company.
Leaders should ALL get on the same page.
Better planning to avoid the end of month mayhem and beginning of month lull.

    Approves of CEO

I have been working at Crane Aerospace & Electronics full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great place to work overall. Strong and supportive upper management team that is engaged with the site in west caldwell There are plenty of challenges and improvement opportunities in the business; if you are a driven individual who wants to improve performance and metrics you can really stand out here. Site management team is very flexible, fair, reasonable, etc. and it is easy to enjoy working here. Could talent promotion / recognition here. You get a lot of responsibility with most jobs.

    Cons

Some managers are not deeply engaged in day-to-day activities of employees (some may see this as a positive). Sometimes there is not enough management and structure, such that initiatives are not fully supported / you can feel dis coordination amongst staff members in what they are trying to achieve. There are a few select employees that are not fully engaged / self-motivated and there is little consequence for that.

    Advice to Management

Overall, not much needs to change. Would recommend a bit more discipline and closer monitoring of employees.

I have been working at Crane Aerospace & Electronics full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    1. Crane pays well. If pay is a major deciding factor, you won't be disappointed.
    2. The company culture is pretty easygoing. There are no stuffy dress codes and you aren't expected to abide by a strict schedule. Depending on your department, your hours can vary as much as you want them to.
    3. The managers and supervisors really care about their people.
    4. The people here are generally cool and easy to work with.
    5. You get an extra week of vacation over the Christmas holiday, paid!

Added bonus: the Redmond campus is lovely. There are plenty of trees, flowers, and hiking trails nearby.

    Cons

    1. Their benefits package leaves a lot to be desired. The premiums are low but the coverage is minimal.
    2. There are very few, if any, training and advancement opportunities. Your only real opportunity to advance is if someone leaves.
    3. You may or may not experience significant downtime during slower production periods.
    4. It's not a "fun" place to work, contrary to the stereotype of other technology companies.
