    Pros

Most of the project teams were staffed with engineers that were highly competent. The projects were interesting and associated with interesting customer projects (ie. planes).

    Cons

Some senior staff were not supportive of their direct reports. Career enhancement and educational improvements were difficult to secure.

I worked at Crane Aerospace & Electronics full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

If you are considered a subject matter expert they value your feedback and input.
The people who work at the Lynnwood location have been there a long time and there can still be a community atmosphere.
Some lattitude in how you can do your job

    Cons

The organization is so focused on lean operations that they only look at it from an operational perspective. It would be one thing if they were mass producing items but with varied product lines some of the really impactful changes are not looked at because it might require looking at elements that are not just in a manufacturing environment, like lifecycle management, and standardization in design approach.
Impacts at the local sites are limited as most of the control is held by a parent company.

    Advice to Management

Look at the total cost of ownership. Consider updating systems and retooling to reduce the cost over the life of the product.

Let people and sites develop their own goals

    Pros

Willing to move you around within the company to find a position that's a fit. Would rather you move around than leave

    Cons

Pay too little for what they expect out of the job. Understaffed for the amount of work to be done

I worked at Crane Aerospace & Electronics full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

some good people, cafeteria and bathrooms are newer. finally starting to filter out the air employees breath in the test room.

    Cons

horrible H.R. and upper management, tampering of test equipment by non qualified employees and dishonest relationships with boeing and airbus, plus lousy benefits and salaries.

    Advice to Management

straighten up, be more forthcoming with new employees and dump the whole h.r. dept.Start a training program for the newer employees that enables them to perform on anti-skid brake systems for the commercial aircraft that it is made for.

I worked at Crane Aerospace & Electronics full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Crane is a stable company with a long history.

    Cons

Salary side, a lot of hours is the expectation.
The business focus is if it's good, move forward, focusing on where improvement is needed. I understand the idea, but recognition of positives can go a long way with morale.

    Advice to Management

Consider more mentoring and coaching of employee that have been there a while. Recent focus has been to coach and mentor the young ones just out of school, but anyone looking to move forward would really appreciate and needs the coach/mentor relationship.

I have been working at Crane Aerospace & Electronics full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

All my co workers are awesome and easy to get along with. Also the environment is not heavy handed and supervisors are very accommodating to one's needs.

    Cons

Occasionally the workload can get extremely heavy and you might find yourself under a lot of pressure from multiple sources, but nothing a little overtime can't fix.

    Advice to Management

My only advice to management right now would be to make more of an effort to hire good employees from being temps and do more employee bonding events to really build up the cohesion and boost morale

I have been working at Crane Aerospace & Electronics full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Interesting work which you can see realized in the external world. Work with mostly experienced technical professionals who work hard and take their work seriously.

    Cons

Company pays lip service in its commitment to be employee oriented. Annual performance reviews seem to be more about providing HR with basis for its actions than anything else. Benefits tend to decrease slightly every year, although this may not be atypical in the current employment climate. Biggest problem is that company is very slow to hire when it takes on substantial amounts of new work.

    Advice to Management

Staffing requirements should be addressed in parallel with the award of new multi-year projects. PMs have responsibility for outcomes but do not get commensurate authority. No apparent consequences when there is a long history of individuals remaining for only a short time working for specific managers.
