    Pros

Great people to work with, lots of personality. You can be yourself there. It's a tight group and everyone gets along.

    Cons

People are great but moral is low. It's a tough business environment so people are getting paid less. Business model not ideal, they don't have investment banking.

    Pros

They used to have great, talented people

    Cons

They no longer have great, talented people. It's a terrible place to work because they shut down, and therefore there are no jobs.

    Advice to Management

Make America Great Again. China is a great job manipulator.

    Pros

CLSA has a storied history in Asian capital markets that for years made it a unique, collaborative, fun place to work. The company provided a rare environment for analysts to produce independent, off-beat research, and the culture rewarded this. Management respected merit more than seniority, which made it a great company for ambitious young people to build their careers.

    Cons

CLSA's historical reputation did not carry over to its efforts in the USA. The firm's US strategy was unclear, and its collaborative, fun-loving culture did not translate to Wall Street.

    Advice to Management

Local management was incredibly political, and senior management seemed distant and concerned more with legacy. Combined, this had a pernicious effect on morale and operations, which led to high turnover.

    Pros

Very professional environment. Quality product and perhaps one of the best in the securities industry. Very global view and a top tier firm in Asia.

    Cons

They are under intense competition and trying to move beyond Asia. This creates pressure on budgets and above average staff turnover with layoffs and departures.

    Pros

I joined CLSA as a graduate intern in 2013.

I can only speak for the team I worked with. I was part of Research IT team in Pune. It is one of the best teams to work with. We have a good mixture of people working in many technologies, not only Java, .NET but also significant work being done in Ruby on rails, Docker, ELK, mobile development using iOS/Android and lots of latest front end technologies.

Exposure to tech is good. Manager to employee relationship is something I must mention in the positive light. The environment within the team is good. Work life balance is good. Appraisal processes are fair and simple. CLSA pays you well too.

Speaking for freshers (as I myself joined CLSA as a fresher), I would definitely recommend joining CLSA. As a graduate intern joined from ECE background, I was well mentored by our manager and given a chance to work on interesting technologies like Ruby on Rails, Sencha ExtJS, ELK, Docker container technology. This really helps you in building a god resume in the start of your career.

    Best luck!

    Cons

Can't think of any reason not to join my team in CLSA.

    Advice to Management

too junior to think about this.
