I have been working at Credit Suisse full-time

    Pros

It's a job in an in an industry that still has a long way to go in cost cutting.

    Cons

Poorly managed and few have respect for the new CEO. Struggling relative to its peers an implementing a new strategy that has alienated some of the best talent. People that stay are only there because they have to be. Most would leave in a heartbeat.

    Advice to Management

Ditch your new leadership and start over.

I have been working at Credit Suisse full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Good people (just not at senior management (decision making) level).

    Cons

Organization lacks direction. Matrix organization with too many reporting lines so no one is really accountable for anything also creates serve conflicts of interest. Culture has changed drastically in last 2 years for the worse. CEO has created culture where everyone is out for themselves. Severe cost cutting/penny wise-pound foolish mentality. Work-life balance does not exist. Not allowed to hire, even in key roles so expectation is everyone needs to work 12+ hr days, everyday to make up for lack of appropriate staffing levels. Then faulted/scapegoated when things go wrong or don't get done. Unsustainable.

    Advice to Management

Treat your people better. Hire the appropriate quality and quantity of staff. If you are not willing, then adjust expectations on quality and quantity of deliverables accordingly. Is it better to pay for appropriate staffing and systems now or pay fines and have a tarnished reputation later?

I worked at Credit Suisse full-time

    Pros

I can't think of any. Initially I thought salary is a pro but other banks pay much more for similar profiles.

    Cons

They treat you like machines, give you work which is not very meaningful (Lots of number crunching and excel sheet process that you won't know what its for). In long run working here will not add much to your skillset unless you are working in a very key role which is rare. Most people end up leaving the firm in a 1 year. If you are lucky and stick around, they start giving you hints by the time you are in your third year, to look for another job, which makes sense, you are still doing the same work as a first year since your skill hasn't improved, and you are getting paid more.

    Advice to Management

Don't hire people from IITs,BITS and NITs. They are way to bright for the work that you provide.

    Pros

Used to be a good organization with excellent benefits and pay

    Cons

Bloated, no-direction, lot of managers but no leaders i.e. no one that can take a decision

    Advice to Management

Have a strategy and stick to it

I worked at Credit Suisse full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The office location is by far the best for ibank in NYC

    Cons

Quality of management is extremely low. She doesn't care about her staff at all. Only her own agenda. Constantly bragging about where she went to school. She openly slams the door and screams at her staff.

I worked at Credit Suisse full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good location, generous benefits such as vacation, back up care, good 401k match. Opportunities to learn offered to firm as a whole though not supported by local managers because it takes away from the bottom line.

    Cons

Management is awful, and look at employees as machines - no lunch hour, flexibility, etc. Colleagues can be backstabbing. Morale is very low.

    Advice to Management

    Streamline management
