"Culture is great for a 9 to 5 but poor for growth opportunities for technical people"

I have been working at Credit Suisse full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Amazing internal mobility. Culture is strong and very inclusive. Working from home is done often but obviously depends on the team.

    Cons

Must be in a single job role for 3 years before being eligable for a promotion, almost no exceptions. Internal mobility can reset this number. Technical is outdated and a majority of the work is spent on maintenance and not genuine improvements. Finance first company. Technical is a cost center and treated as such.

    Advice to Management

Put young members on team with strong technology. Many leave due to poor pay and poor technology stacks.

I have been working at Credit Suisse full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Awesome people, great work-life balance, great culture, strong investment in diversity, great opportunities to explore mobility to other roles internally Started my career here out of college and have grown so much professionally as well as met a ton of incredible people!

    Cons

The analyst program lumps all Technology new college hires together for the same salary, which means that it may be more or less competitive to other offers depending on what you majored in in college. General sense that technology/back office is a 'lesser' role than front office/finance positions in the eyes of the firm as a whole. Lack of an Associate title in Technology means that new college hires have to... wait 4+ years for a formal promotion, which gives a sense of a lack of upward mobility and stagnation and can be off-putting.

    Advice to Management

Salaries in technology should be comparable to tech firms, not to other ops etc roles Add an associate title in technology for a sense of upward motion

I worked at Credit Suisse for less than a year

    Pros

Excellent culture, everyone's very nice and open to talk to you. Even people from other divisions like Sales&Trading are welcoming . Location is also one of the best in NYC, Maison Square Park.

    Cons

Honestly I had a very good experience and can't think of any cons. If anything, the company itself is struggling so job security may be a problem in the future.

    Advice to Management

Keep being involved in the development of interns and analysts. Provide them more opportunities to move up the ladder.

I worked at Credit Suisse full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - IT atmosphere was not cutthroat - Decent starting pay & raises - One floor of "start-up" environment - Decent facilities for collaboration and breaks - Some ambitious tech projects

    Cons

    - Poor bonuses and performance review process - Uncertain future with Private Banking closing - Most money and resources that could be aligned for ambitious projects ends up going to maintenance of legacy systems

    Advice to Management

Invest more money in technology, which supports everything your front office does, in order to keep up with other large financial institutions. Otherwise you will be left behind.
