      Great Place to work

      Pros

Great culture, and many smart people, latest technology. Lots of opportunities to learn and internal mobility within the firm is great.

      Cons

the only con I can think of - fewer people and more work. This is a great scenario to be in rather than more people and less work.

      Enjoyed My Experience

      Pros

Very inclusive environment - was immediately impressed by the ethnic diversity and number of PRIDE ally flags I noticed when I entered the office my first day of work. There is a strong culture of internal mobility. Once you are hired, it is likely that you will have opportunities to grow and advance within the organization - even if not in the same business function.

      Cons

I attended a workshop that outlined the promotion process. While I was not employed long enough to pursue promotion (2-3 yrs), the process seemed oddly subjective. From what I understood, unless one has the support of their direct line manager, they can never be promoted. So if a manager does not support one's personal growth, or if there are any clashes between that manager and employee, that single manager can hinder an individual's opportunity to advance - even if the issue(s) are not performance related. Titles are also important within this culture and will dictate how much income one can earn and how swiftly they can grow within the organization. Even if experience meets requirements for a role, employees cannot skip title levels. This could be limiting if one is hired as a lesser title simply to "get in" with the company or secure employment.

      Pros

Internal mobility is encouraged - culture is pretty diverse - people that work there are very down to earth

      Cons

This may be a disadvantage of working from home, but it is very hard to separate life and work given remote working.

      Pros

Great heath and dental, decent 401k contribution, fantastic PTO (vacation, sick, maternity, sabbatical, etc.), multiple employee diversity networks, and a shiny new campus in Raleigh.

      Cons

Offers are incredibly low, it’s actually almost embarrassing for an international investment bank. The same applies to raises and bonuses, no matter how favorable your performance evaluations were. Diversity and inclusion is just not there yet, especially in Raleigh. I was such a fan of the “culture” and push for “diversity and inclusion” and I ate all of it up but the fact is, the diversity numbers are flat and retention of diverse employees is dismal, likely because they also only promote the same types of people. Not to mention everyone at the top pretty much looks the same. There’s sort of a mix in the middle and at the bottom but not really. Most who have any power or influence are w/m, with a w/f sprinkled in here and there. Employees basically go unsupported by ER because guess what, it’s not illegal to be backwards, ignorant, or a bigot, nor do they consider it a fireable offense. If you stick your neck out on the line just know that your career is over at the firm - they will not lay a safety net out for you and you will be labeled “problematic.” Internal mobility is nearly impossible if you don’t have someone on the inside. You will also never truly get any objective feedback on why you weren’t given an opportunity.

Culture is great for a 9 to 5 but poor for growth opportunities for technical people

May 3, 2019 - Technical Analyst in New York, NY

      Pros

Amazing internal mobility. Culture is strong and very inclusive. Working from home is done often but obviously depends on the team.

      Cons

Must be in a single job role for 3 years before being eligable for a promotion, almost no exceptions. Internal mobility can reset this number. Technical is outdated and a majority of the work is spent on maintenance and not genuine improvements. Finance first company. Technical is a cost center and treated as such.
