  1. "Good work-life balance, kind of quiet. Not your typical financial company."

I worked at CreditSights (Less than a year)

    Pros

You get real ownership of your work. If you ever need a day off or need to leave for a doctor's appointment or anything, they don't mind at all, as long as you're getting your work done. They're a lot more passionate and happy, and it's not all just about making money and wearing expensive suits and being strictly professional, like it is at most big-name financial companies. You still get into the daily grind here, but this company is much more human.

    Cons

Most other employees had no understanding of what my work about, so I barely had anyone else to collaborate with. Lots of quiet days working alone on my project. The pay also really wasn't very good considering my previous salaries and living in NYC.

    Advice to Management

Make a hierarchy more clear. Too many people have no idea where they fall within the company.

I have been working at CreditSights full-time

    Pros

Collaborative, highly welcoming work environment. The team has a chemistry I have never seen before at other firms in the financial services industry. The technology team is the best at any firm I've worked at.

    Cons

Hard to see one's room for promotion - however, that is a function of the investment research working environment generally. If one takes the initiative to ask, answers will be given.

    Advice to Management

None. The firm has developed a winning formula, and should continue to see great success over the coming years.

    Pros

Excellent compensation and friendly colleagues. Lots of talent in the room.

    Cons

As with most places, some of the higher-ups should have been shown the door long ago.

    Advice to Management

    Trim the fat.
