I have been working at Creighton University full-time

    Pros

PTO, free food, working with peers who wouldn't work with you.

    Cons

Where to start? If you want to proceed in your career, forget that. They will create a roadblock in your every step. Nothing comes easy, you have to earn them. But just because you pay tour employyes don't mean you owe them They not your slaves. Pay is way way below market standard, so bad that even you feel ashamed to tell anyone what you even make. You hear budjet is tight every year, but that dosen't stop the top tier to buy new houses every year . Technology is boring, employees don't even get training on new technologies. It's a roadblock for you to stop leaving . Good try. As a technical person, you will probably feel lost in the open world. Stay away. Your only way of survivavl here is not by how much hard work you do , but by whom you know up the ladder.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees better. Just because they work don't mean they are slaves. Learn how to talk first.

I have been working at Creighton University full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The University as a whole is awesome at promoting a whole person concept. You will meet people from all walks of life and they are almost always helpful and friendly.

    Cons

Compensation is lower than most, making it hard to acquire and retain good talent. Some departments on campus still operate in a quite backward fashion, and trying to help them progress is quite painful.

    Advice to Management

All leaders should re-examine their policies, procedures, and practices to find out where they can shed the "we've always done it that way" mentality. Well thought out, logical, and strategic thinking needs to become the norm.
