I have been working at Creighton University full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The University as a whole is awesome at promoting a whole person concept. You will meet people from all walks of life and they are almost always helpful and friendly.

    Cons

Compensation is lower than most, making it hard to acquire and retain good talent. Some departments on campus still operate in a quite backward fashion, and trying to help them progress is quite painful.

    Advice to Management

All leaders should re-examine their policies, procedures, and practices to find out where they can shed the "we've always done it that way" mentality. Well thought out, logical, and strategic thinking needs to become the norm.

I have been working at Creighton University full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Very family-friendly and hospitable to work-life balance. Creighton is a place that can become "home". It is an organization committed to service to others and recognizing the whole person.

    Cons

Not a lot of room for growth for practice-based professionals compared to "true" academics. Faculty are able to grow (understandably), but a wealth of knowledge exists and could be better tapped into among professionals with non-terminal degrees who excel in their career fields as practice-based professionals.

    Advice to Management

Better enable employees that are not "support staff" to advance as well. Do not waiver from your commitment to employee wellness and work/life balance.
