I have been working at Cricket Wireless full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Cricket is a great place to work for a college job. The hourly pay is slightly above average, and the commissions make up for it. It is a very good introductory sales job with minimal sales stress on the employees as far as this type of business goes. AT&T and other companies alike are a lot tougher on their employees as far as sales quotas go. The job is easy, but the employees make the business. If you have a good team around you in your store work is fun, but one bad egg can ruin the experience for everyone.

    Cons

If your numbers are not up to par, help and training is lack luster. The online e-learnings don't really do much at truthfully helping you improve. It's all the same general babble that you get on the back of a hallmark motivational card. To excel in Cricket you need to be a yes man and even if you are being asked to do something you know will have little effect on your numbers or on your improvement, you have to keep your head down and do it until they see their errors and fix it later. But that leaves you with bad numbers and ultimately blamed for their mistakes. Because if you speak up you will be gone. Turnover is high in this company. But if you can make it through it does become enjoyable.

    Advice to Management

Give your employees some say and for the love of god stay consistent. If you're asking for your employees to discount accessories to get volume out, don't slander them next month about how low their profit is. Because by doing that you tell them to focus on volume which hurts profit, then you yell at them for having low profit. It demoralizes the employee and makes them believe they're being set up to fail. Also...have better training. 1 on 1 trainings go a long way because most issues in an employee won't all be solved by the same video

I worked at Cricket Wireless full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

What Cricket offers is fantastic - all of the benefits of the AT&T network at a fraction of the cost plus simple, easy to understand billing and most of the same handsets as everyone else.

    Cons

The lack of understanding that Cricket is a wholly owned subsidiary of AT&T is the biggest challenge. You see the "ah-ha" moment when you explain it to customers but there is such a large cross section of the population that will not give Cricket a second thought because they do not understand what it is.

    Advice to Management

You have all of the components of a successful company but are too afraid of fallout from customers switching from AT&T to Cricket (because it really is the same service) that you sell yourselves short. Boost says they use Sprint, Metro boldly proclaims they use T-MO....I think it is time to blow the cover off and let the masses know that Cricket is powered by AT&T and watch what happens.
