    A pretty meh experience

    Pros

Pay is higher than that offered by some other freelance companies and there's no revisions clause in the contract. Decent amount of available work but it's inconsistent.

    Cons

The QC process is basically worthless. They send out a review for every completed job but there is little to no usable feedback included in the review. It seems like it's just done for show to keep you taking jobs in the short term. Any issues brought up by freelancers to management receive generic responses that refer to their policies. Earlier in the year, they made a show about doing a Q and A webinar to improve communication with freelancers but all of the responses were basically "that's just how we do things," with no actual appreciation of the feedback they were being given. Freelancers are treated as disposable. The assignment portal is glitchy, poorly designed, and frustrating to use.

Some positives, but expect to be nickle and dimed

    Pros

    Work from home, flexible hours

    Cons

You don't always receive pay for projects completed and don't receive a clear answer about why. At least one project manager has pressured me to accept new projects after being told I was not available and did not have the capacity to accept more work than I already had lined up.

    Unreasonable expectations

    Pros

    flexible schedule. That’s about all.

    Cons

The rate is terrible for the amount of work you sometimes have to put in to editing. When you get a piece that is well-written and doesn’t require as many edits, you are hounded to put more edits in, even if it’s not necessary. It is unrealistic that every article is going to need extensive editing.

    Pays worse than babysitting

    Pros

Can accept or decline work easily Interesting to read about various subjects (depends on your area of expertise), simple user interface

    Cons

Feedback from supervisors appears to be given by non-native English speakers (often had blatantly incorrect "corrections" that sometimes contradicted their user manual, changes that were awkward/odd for American English, and tons of irrelevant additions or removals of articles) Pay is very low for their expectations of how much you change the document (almost require substantive level editing for copy editing assignments)

    Pros

A fine side-gig. You can freely accept or deny assignments.

    Cons

Lack of communication about expectations and management's preferred approach to editing - if there is one.
