Pretty on the outside, toxic on the inside
Aug 30, 2019 - Anonymous EmployeeRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Criteo’s compensation is amongst some of the highest in the industry. Benefits are great. Workplace team tries hard to keep us all afloat with events every so often.
Cons
The people are toxic (especially those who’ve been at the company for a few years). They’re put into management positions with NO experience outside of Criteo. Needless to say, these individuals make terrible manager because they don’t take the time to teach you anything because in their minds you should already know everything they know. Stress levels are through the roof across all sides of the business. There is so much pressure to rake in revenue. Constant reorgs and the company’s products don’t align with one another as some are in fact competing with one another. Criteo is severely understaffed and many people have left the company in the past few months due to this issue which is leaving Criteo even more understaffed. With holidays right around the corner, I’m not sure what to expect.

Hearing what you have to say gives us the opportunity to take action and so we’d like to thank you for submitting your review. Great company on a recent decline
Sep 15, 2022 - Project ManagerRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Amazing people culture (more of a family than a workspace). Worker benefits are great.
Cons
Low salaries compared to the market. The entrepreneurial spirit that once characterized the company was lost due to change in management.

Thank you for taking the time to sit and share. We care to promote a people-first approach, so it is great to hear you've felt it during your time with us. We want Criteo to be a place where everybody can grow. We, therefore, encourage internal mobility through our Voyager Program, for instance. That way, we allow employees to explore and test different teams and areas of the business so they can later make their careers evolve in the direction they choose.

Great benefits don’t outweigh toxic culture
May 9, 2022 - Marketing ManagerRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Great benefits for US employees. General culture of respect for time off (due to it being a French Company). Really interesting and valuable experience working at a truly international company.
Cons
Frenetic energy of a start up + lack of transparency, tons of red-tape and endless politicking = exhausting environment where very little meaningful work gets done. I honestly lost count of the number of times I was asked to do something not-strategic and/or frankly non-sensical for “optics”. This environment where politicking and infighting reigns supreme there is so much wasted talent and even perhaps worse - I’ve seen multiple humble and eager employees slowly fade to resigned, jaded and gossipy. The lack of leadership and autonomy for execution really wore down a lot of people. Also workplace bullies have been consistently promoted so long as they are well connected. I don’t think that this is consistent across the entire organization but there are large pockets where this is true. My advice to anyone considering working for Criteo - be really thorough with interviewing potential managers and peers and if you have any red flags - honor them they are most likely valid and picking up on a toxic situation. That said, if you don’t have any red flags and your potential team seem well rested happy and productive then go for it you may have found a great pocket of the company (they def exist)! The other major issue with Criteo is it’s downright pitiful show of DEI. Pre 2020 there was absolutely none and even refusal by leadership to share diversity statistics. Post 2020 there are now some weak attempts that feel very much like playing lip service without any commitment to organizational change. It’s also a disturbingly homogenous workforce in the US offices. I personally sat through so many cringe “diversity” programs by well meaning but utterly clueless white people. DEI leadership hire is inexplicably a white woman?! The lack of self awareness by the Company at this point is honestly inexcusable.

Hello, First, we would like to thank you for taking the time to sit down and give a feedback. We are happy to see that you enjoyed the international environment in a context of having a good work life balance and respect of your time. We are sorry to hear that you felt that your work and different projects lacked of true purposes and impact. We are trying to make our strategy clear for everyone, and truly think that each and every Criteo make our boat go faster. Criteo has committed to strengthening it's DEI with the appointment of Head of DEI and a team to support this journey, specifically Region DEI Managers in Americas, EMEA and APAC respectively. Just 15 months in, we are committed to continuing to demonstrate our investment in this area, and appreciating that this is a journey that will continue to evolve with the support of our CEO and C-Suite. Our Americas DEI Leader started in January and has already commenced working with Colleges and Partnerships to increase our opportunities towards a more diverse workforce in the US. We conduct our voices survey twice yearly, and we have recently conducted our annual managers survey. The feedback on inclusion has increased, as well as manager effectiveness. At the same time we know we need to continue to improve and therefore we analyse the elements of this feedback (including verbatum comments) closely to address any concerns from a culture or leadership stanpoint.

A great family of products. Pay is competitive. Benefits are great. Office culture is impeccable. Public company with the vibe of a start-up. Beautifully designed offices. Frequent lunches, monthly themed parties at the rooftop bar. The company summit in France was truly flabbergasting. They invest generously in their employees and understand that workplace experience leads to stronger employee performance.
Cons
None that I can think of.

Perfect place to work in
Jun 27, 2017 - Anonymous Employee in SingaporeRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Open and friendly environment where everyone can freely talk and express themselves. Lots of freedom to choose your own actions aside from your own daily workload. Loaded with food, drinks and team bonding activities. Great employee benefits & insurance policies. Yearly vacation to France for the whole company!
Cons
With the given freedom, sometimes you might feel lost and not sure what to do with your time. Lots of self initiation and independence is required. My boss and most of my team is in a different country so that's very apparent.

I could enumerate an endless list of positive things about Criteo: - The atmosphere and work culture is absolutely incredible - You receive many benefits (and they are great!) - You are empowered and encouraged to make an impactful contribution and become the best version of yourself - There is an open communication policy in which you can easily share your ideas, thoughts, etc
Cons
- Perhaps, the could consider the unlimited vacation policy that some other pioneers have started to implement (Lyft, Uber, Zendesk...etc)

Hello there - THANK YOU for your positive review! It's so great to see your feedback and hear the passion that we work to build in the company every day! On your unlimited vacation policy - this is certainly something under review. In all honesty the challenge for us is that all industry data indicates employees tend to take less vacation under an unlimited policy than if they are given a specific amount (and we feel our vacation entitlements are fair and generous). This has for a large part been our hesitation before considering the move - we want to feel confident that the end result will better the wellbeing of our employees. Having said this, we certainly aren't ruling anything out, so it continues to be something we review!
