Too much drama
Dec 15, 2020 - Security Officer in Clearwater, FLRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Pay is decent and there is always work.
Cons
The gossip is insane and too many people try to get promoted by making others employees look bad. It's nearly impossible to get promoted unless you lower your integrity.

Full Time Field Officer
Jul 2, 2015 - Protection Officer in Tampa, FLRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
This is the most satisfying job I have had in 15 year career. The team is actually a team that cares about you and supports you, eager for you to succeed. CIS ensures you are equipped with proper training and tools as well as proper staffing and available back up for bad situations. Growth opportunity is explosive for the right individual and I have been having a blast moving from one thing to the next. My hope when I joined was to continue learning something new, and that has been a wish come true. The intel is always great and the hours for the right people are plentiful. In summary, the pros: the people, the tools, the training, the available projects, growth opportunity, support in all forms, discounts everywhere, lots of intrinsic satisfaction from positive influence in the community.
Cons
CIS has a great pay structure for the industry and looks for every way possible to reward hard work and progressive Officers. However, the only con I could consider would be the general pay rate in this industry not due to CIS. With that said, I feel strongly that even this con can be overcome if the experience is transferred properly.

Pros
The comradery with fellow co-workers was amazing. The overtime made the pay more bearable. The mission (private sector anti-terrorism) was and still is something I firmly believe in. When the right leadership was in place the operation ran great. Training was good for this industry. I resigned to finish college because my site sergeant wouldnt work with my class schedule, but I actually liked it here enough that I reapplied. However, I got the generic rejection letter claiming that the "other applicant was a better fit." My years of ATO experience, knowledge of agency rules/regs, relevant military experience, and my BA in Homeland Security didn't match up to the other guy. Sure....
Cons
The wrong site leadership and mid-level management ensured rampant incompetence and the good ol' boy club. If you were tight with supervisors or were drinking buddies with them you got the best schedule and shots at promotion. This wasn't always the case but it was often enough to be a problem. Hopefully CIS has improved upon this. Scheduling. Yes, the lead time for the following week was more often than not terrible. The new week began on Sundays and on most occasions the schedule wouldn't be released until whenever o'clock on Saturday. Try planning around that. I was thrown all over the schedule like it was a rollercoaster: days, mids, nights, and sometimes with obscenely short turnarounds in between. Pay. Better than some companies but for the reputation CIS claims and the nature of many of the assignments, their officers should be making more. I wouldn't not recommend CIS, but I would definitely weigh all my options first.

CIS Staff is the Greatest Asset
Jun 7, 2013 - Executive Assistant in Largo, FLRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
The Senior Management at CIS doesn't expect you to stay at an entry level position for long. From the day you start at CIS, you are given the training and tools you will need to advance to the position and/or department you're interested in. Additionally, the staff here at CIS is very tight knit, making the work environment comfortable, friendly and exciting! We act more like a group of old friends and family than a group of co-workers, which makes teamwork effortless and second nature. There are dozens of career paths here at CIS, especially when you expand your sight to CIS's sister companies. So whether you're an experienced pro in the security industry exploring new career opportunities or a wide-eyed kid right out of college looking for a first chance (like me), you will be able to find your place at CIS.
Cons
Our work doesn't end when we walk out the door. The security industry, much like the health care industry, never sleeps. There are times when you will get a call that must be addressed in the middle of the night, but it's to be expected, as CIS is a 24-hour operation. Furthermore, it's a small price to pay to work at a company with solid virtues and passionate practitioners.

Family Orientated Company, very professional
Aug 17, 2016 - Special Services Group/Protection Officer in Tampa, FLRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
I've been with CIS for a little over 3 years. Due to my mulitiple deployments with the Army Reserves I've been more than welcomed back with open arms each time. Safety is priority with the Agency. If a new officer faces Difficulty in a high crime area they are mentored and assigned a low crime area until they gain for experience in the field . High Quality gear is issued to include firearm. The new digital radios issued are flawless , I remember a time calling in all reports over the radio and get nothing but static but all reporting is now done on smart phones untilizing a webtools format. Scheduling is more than accommodating, and lastly the amount of experience that officers provide from thier various backgrounds are outstanding which provide a great community service to not just clients but citizens alike.
Cons
None . The complainers are the ones who don't apply themselves and thier don't care attitude is what puts officers and citizens lives in danger by not taking the job seriously.
