I worked at Critical Mass full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Great culture, competitive salary.

    Cons

Mostly digital only, very little traditional/social media.

    Advice to Management

Agency should offer a more integrated experience where they can.

I worked at Critical Mass full-time

    Pros

It embraces a great company culture. As much as a creative department, it has strong R&D department. Designers can work with global brands.

    Cons

Company politics. Fast turn around on pitch work. Often people worked for the weekend to work on pitching project.

    Cons

Poor maternity leave policy (even with strong female leadership) but they are working on making parenting/work more flexible

I worked at Critical Mass as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

I get a ton of individual attention from the people in my department: advice, guidance, explanations, etc. The intern project was a really cool way to actually own a project and work consistently and directly with a small team (not to mention as a portfolio piece). The job was never stressful and I got to soak up a lot.

    Cons

Didn't feel like my pipeline was well managed so that I was actually contributing; at times I just felt useless. I also would have liked more consistent feedback on my performance.

    Advice to Management

Have a plan ahead of time to integrate interns into project work

I have been working at Critical Mass (More than a year)

    Pros

Amazing people, great clients. They give you the opportunity to take on new work and develop your career. Even support employees transferring to other CM locations which is pretty sweet.

    Cons

Lack of transparency with employees concerning client relationships and overall business and staffing requirements gets frustrating. They tend to focus on strengthening an employees weaknesses as opposed to developing and utilizing strengths.

    Advice to Management

Rework current quarterly review structure. AD's shouldn't be as hands on in developing careers, it should be the CD's responsibility. Be transparent and real with your people.

All of the people I worked with, whether from the creative side, accounting, or HR, were without exception super people. They were skilled at accommodating the needs of an international workforce in support of the demanding projects of large customers. The culture was very inclusive and fun.

    Cons

None really come to mind.I enjoyed my time working with CM, felt I contributed to some interesting projects, and learned a lot from my colleagues.
