Casual workplace -- you can basically wear anything - meaning jeans, leggings, etc.
Flexible hours -- A lot of people come in early anywhere from 6 to 8 a.m. and then leave early (as long as you put in 8 hours of work). The supervisor told me as long as you come in at least before 8:30 it's fine.
Non-corporate environment - it's a flexible environment.
Interviews: A large part of this job is setting up interviews with insurance executives. What I found is a large majority do not want to talk to Crittenden employees because of being previously "burned" from the company. This became a huge problem with writing articles.
Management: For the Novato branch, they were very cheap and didn't have enough employees. They raised the amount of work without matching a decent amount of compensation. Also beware, it's not rare for management to let employees go and then not hire a replacement but pile the work onto current employees.
Not a lot of room for growth - mostly an entry level position.
Advice to Management

The pay was good. Regular hours, casual environment. Used to be fun people. Not there anymore. The smart ones leave or get fired.
Company has been on its last legs for awhile. I think the owner only keeps it going to give himself something to do. The only people left working there are the dregs that couldn't find work elsewhere or were too lazy to improve themselves. Owner/publisher is hands on and clueless. If you worked there and were a good employee, you're long gone!

If you are a good worker with a good attitude, you will succeed here. The majority of the senior managers started at the very bottom and worked their way up. If you are a good employee you will get promoted and move up the ladder. If you are lazy and unable to meet deadlines, this is not the company for you.
Hours are flexible, salaries are noticeably higher than other news/research companies and the office locations are convenient.
Can be boring but that is expected with daily editing/writing jobs.

Decent pay but that's it
Horrible owner and management is worse
