We doing meaningful work for clients that has a positive impact on many people's lives -- it feels good to know that what I do makes a difference every day. I have been working at Crosby Marketing Communications full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

My experience with Crosby is extremely positive. In reading the positive reviews, I tend to agree with them. In reading the not-as-positive reviews, particularly of Bethesda, I can say that nothing is further from the truth. Leadership in both Bethesda and Annapolis is focused on your personal and professional growth, giving you the opportunity to learn, the flexibility to take on new and different work, and really...

    Cons

The only real con is that working in Bethesda means that you don't always have that face-to-face with Annapolis. But, it still works with the continual virtual lines of communication via chat that happens daily.

    Pros

    • Friendly people: Ever worked for a place that feels like your second home? Coming to Crosby every day for me is like that, home in a neighborhood filled with friendly and familiar faces. The clients and the work may have changed, but the commitment to each other and to do the best work has not. • Solid management team and top-notch CEO: Crosby’s ability to adapt to the constant change of a demanding industry is...

I worked at Crosby Marketing Communications full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Considerate & kind CEO - budgeted for fun events like blue angels day, halloween, christmas party etc

    Cons

Benefits are a extremely on the low. Specifically at the Bethesda office, the leadership employees were focused on pointing out the flaws of the junior staff instead of their achievements. They never seemed to care about the junior staff drowning in heavy workload. You could definitely safe they cared more about the client. Whatever happened to "your employees come first" ?Their stuck-up, intimidating, rude and inconsiderate...

    Advice to Management

Reconsider leadership managers at the Bethesda office & hire educate the HR department to be friendlier and pay more attention to employee's needs and overall state of mind. Maybe less employees will quit so often.

I worked at Crosby Marketing Communications full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great clients, great mentors (if you put the time into developing the relationships!), and a real dedication to its mission from the CEO to the youngest members. You can take ownership of projects and the leadership take a concerned effort to make sure everyone is aware of how the business is run and how it's doing. More so than at other places I've been at. The account/strategy team does a good job managing client...

    Cons

I worked in the Bethesda office and they have individual offices for everyone so you have to make an effort to see people (not a big deal if you aren't an extrovert) but overall they tried to get people out of the office and have small get-togethers so its mitigated.

    Advice to Management

Keep investing in education opportunities for junior folks and letting them lead on projects if they can. Use your senior folks as guiding hand while they are focused on new biz. Might help to formalize assistant IM positions company wide so the experiences are the same where each assistant assists an SVP, EVP and gets good exposure and learns from some of the good minds there. Also allow junior staff to maybe...

I worked at Crosby Marketing Communications full-time

    Pros

I was overall impressed by how the company ran itself. The CEO is dedicated and kind, and I truly believe he cares about each employee. Having culture days and days of service were great and made you feel like a part of the family.

    Cons

I agree wholeheartedly with what a previous staff member said about the leadership culture in the Bethesda office being poor vs. the Annapolis office being lovely. The work taken on by staff in the Bethesda office was overwhelming, including junior staff taking on far too senior level work due to their low billing rates. Senior staff were superficial, only caring about staff's wellbeing when serious issues came up. Backhanded...

    Advice to Management

Focus more on your people and less on the digital PR of your people. Bethesda leadership needs serious training on kindness and also self care. It was hard dealing with their uncontrolled stress all day (i.e. they would not eat all day, not listen to staff because they were caught up in their own stress, openly vent about dieting issues and share unconstructive feedback).

    Advice to Management

Crosby does great work but the environment was really unhealthy and stressful, especially at the Bethesda office, and Sr. management had unrealistic expectations for deadlines that made work feel miserable most times. Sr. staff could be really catty which, even with tough skin, would eventually get to you. I also didn’t feel that my time was respected nor that I could actually speak up for myself when I was drowning in...

Crosby Marketing is an amazing organization. The leadership fosters such a welcoming environment that makes everyone feel like family. The work we do with nonprofits, government agencies and health care truly helps us meet our mission of Inspiring Actions That Matter. There is tremendous room for growth within the organization and the leadership really cares about each employee's growth and professional development.

    Cons

I have worked at Crosby for about a year and a half, and I have not had any negative experiences with the organization.
