I have been working at Crowdtwist full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The CrowdTwist engineering team is full of great talent. After a string of new hires, development is stronger than ever and focused on pushing the platform forward.

Despite growing to over 50 employees, the company is still fast paced and feels like a startup. With that, there is a real sense of ownership - people stay late across the company and get work done.

HR is amazing. CrowdTwist goes above and beyond to organize events and maintain an incredible culture. Perks like catered lunch twice a week and unlimited vacation are also a huge plus!

The leadership is trustworthy, They are doing a great job to keep things running smoothly and provide a clear vision for the future.

    Cons

There is a lot of manual work that the data and client success teams have to deal with. Having stronger self service tools would be a huge plus.

    Advice to Management

Continue to hire great talent and build out the organization. The company culture is incredible so keep it up! Focus on scalability and pushing the platform forward.

    Pros

Fast paced with new challenges every day. Ability to show how you can rise to the occasion since it's a small team.
Management rewards valued employees and isn't afraid to cut ties with under performers

    Business is growing...fast.
Big brands for clients to grow your resume and experience
Tool set is client friendly and adaptable
Small team so change can happen fast if you're not afraid to speak up
Feels like you can make an impact every day by doing meaningful work

    Cons

    Clients are dictating product roadmap.
Over invested in some teams on the business, under invested in others - need more "doers" and less figure heads.
Leadership doesn't always communicate a shared vision
Winning new clients is more important than retaining
    Office could be better
    Upgrade data/reporting

    Advice to Management

Shift people investment on stronger product, development and client management
Exit the young start-up phase faster, and scale with the right people
Find ways to be more integral to clients' day-to-day like marketing calendars by leveraging data asset and infiltrating clients' customers' moment of purchase
Communicate wins to client list more frequently to get credit for product updates

    "Software Engineering Nightmare"

    Neutral Outlook

    Pros

CEO works hard and is trying to make things better slowly
HR team does a good job creating low key events for employees

    Cons

Current engineering leadership is completely incompetent
    No CTO
All employees with any knowledge of the system have left the company
Toxic environment for any good engineer looking to grow
Recent Attrition event resulted in loss of most good employees

    Advice to Management

Bring in a CTO that has successfully lead a development team. Make sure this person has a track record of doing things right in a start up environment. Be wary about direction provided by current engineering leadership, deception abounds, if you think you know whats going on in Tech you probably do not. Right now execution is key, bring in the people that will make it happen.

    Pros

Amazing coworkers, everyone is a joy to work with
    Very manageable work hours
    Great thought leadership
Opportunities available to help evolve the company as it grows
Great office culture, free lunches every Wednesday, office events happen fairly often
    Amazing benefits i.e. Unlimited PTO

    Cons

Since the company is still growing and evolving, there is room for improvement regarding access to information. A great effort is already being made to make this better via proper documentation though so I believe as time goes on it will be a non-issue.
