I worked at Crowe Horwath full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Being able to work remotely is great when you need to change things up in your life. It's nice working in a tight nit group that specializes in the IT area - it makes you feel like a critical part of the firm. Always learning something new everyday and, if necessary, colleagues are there to explain something if you're not familiar with it.

    Cons

Lack of communication between project leads and rest of team, occasionally. Often times there is a lack of clients and you will be put on the bench without work, forcing you to work on internal projects. Often times someone might have a problem with something you're doing and not communicate it with you, which can come back and bite you.

    Advice to Management

The firm needs to stop looking at numbers of chargeable versus non-chargeable hours and making lay off decisions based on that especially if the employee constantly asks for work but none is given to them and the non-chargeable work they work on is actually going to provide chargeable value in the future. Management needs to stop caring only about its bottom line and get to know its new-hires and see how they work or else hiring/firing decisions happen and either too many people get hired leading to lay-offs later on or lay-offs happen and critical members of the firm are asked to leave. Thus, there is not much job stability with Crowe when starting.

    Pros

It is public accounting, so a lot of these companies are about the same, but they do make you feel appreciated.

    Cons

You have good managers and some not so great ones, but that is something you would see anywhere.

I have been working at Crowe Horwath full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The firm has a working mechanism to foster Learning, growth and development. Crowe also has a solid reputation to allow staff the latitude to try new approaches of doing things.

    Cons

The pay is slightly below what other big accounting and consulting players are forking out. There is also very slow upward mobility and most staff branch out to attain career growth.

    Advice to Management

Remuneration of consultant should be reviewed regularly and bench-marked against other consulting giants. Also ways should be sort to increase upward mobility of career of young consultants.

I have been working at Crowe Horwath full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Started out of college in 2013; have progressed from Staff to Senior Staff Consultant
    -Quick promotion schedule
-Management is actively changing firm culture for the better
    -Collaborative, supportive environment
-Very career-driven schedules; you make your own career and have all the support you'll ever need to move forward
-Commitment to work/life balance; rarely are consultants asked to work over 60 hours a week

    Cons

-Firm still has vestiges of accounting/tax background in culture; not as innovative or flexible as a true tech/consulting firm should be
-Compensation is on the lower end; despite non-monetary perks, firm cannot continue to grow and thrive without adequately paying their employees

    Advice to Management

    Pay your people.

I have been working at Crowe Horwath full-time

    Pros

1.) Huge changes to benefits over the last 12 months. The "work where you want," jeans in the office, and parental leave are putting Crowe at the cutting edge of public accounting firms in their size.

2.) Great career advancement opportunities even in small markets.

    Cons

1.) Management had missed the mark on new audit software and other job optimizations that are actually making the work harder.

2.) Firm does a poor job of communicating negative things that are going on in the Firm and how they impact employees.

    Advice to Management

Spend the time to test new audit software before roll out next time.
