I have been working at Crowe Horwath full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great intelligent people to work with and learn from every day; great resourcing for tax training; great opportunities to be exposed to innovative products and ideas

    Cons

The hours are terrible during the busy tax seasons; there is no work-life balance for about 5-6 months out of the year; you are expected to be available even when you are on vacation.

    Advice to Management

Don't overwork - it appears that this is an expectation of me, even though such long hours and commitment should not be an expectation.

I worked at Crowe Horwath full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Benefits are decent and values on paper seem good

    Cons

    Management and support structure

Managers that will take 0 accountability for their weaknesses and deflect blame on others. I came in believing that Crowe had an amazing support and coaching structure. I've always relished new challenges but understood that I would have the support and guidance to take on this new challenge. Very early on into my employment, I discovered that wasn't the case. My coach and manager came into the office once every 4 to 5 weeks, had no peers to rely on as it was an administrative position, and the only other manager worked out of state and had terrible leadership qualities. One of the top leaders in the audit firm even expressed to me to avoid her as a role model on who I should become.

    Advice to Management

Do a better job of vetting out who gets promoted. Simply being at a company for a very long time should entitle people to promotions, especially when they unqualified to lead or manage others.

I have been working at Crowe Horwath full-time

    Pros

    Have comparable pay and benefits.

    Cons

Lacking in proper documentation in audit files
Went from an antiquated audit platform to an internally developed one that doesn't work. Also, marketing this platform as something great and charging time wasted to clients.

I worked at Crowe Horwath full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The company had good pay, benefits, socials. Great teamwork, providing high-quality deliverables, steady work flow

    Cons

Absolutely no work-life balance. If you want to move up or get ahead, prepare to work more than the usual 8-5 workdays. Also, be prepared to be heads down into your computer all day with no communication from fellow workers

    Advice to Management

Don't list a company value as good work-life balance if you force your employees to follow otherwise. Realize that people actually have lives outside of work

"Best Places to Work yet other managers untrusting"

    StarStarStarStarStar
Former Employee - Anonymous Employee in Chicago, IL
Former Employee - Anonymous Employee in Chicago, IL
    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

Great company, won best places to work

    Cons

Unprofessional departments - after two years, found an HR rep temperamental, too "open" communication for employees that were liked (gave out confidential to others), dishonest, untrusting, etc.

Great place to work but I would double check upper management info from certain managers and above for objective information. As many companies, sometimes it is department dependent.

    Advice to Management

Keep your eyes on guard regarding gossip and clicks from certain departments including HR. As long as employees stay on the good side of some of the clicks, you will be good.
