I have been working at Crowe full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Culture is inclusive and flexible work environment and good client experience.

    Cons

They have a tendency to overwork high achievers and sometimes partners don't respect work/personal boundaries after hours and on weekends even during slow season. WAY too much emphasis on realization to the point where it's becoming a skewed metric for productivity or pricing purposes.

    Advice to Management

Stop putting so much emphasis on realization - you're creating a cycle of eating hours/underpricing.

I worked at Crowe full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The onboarding process was fantastic. Got to meet people from almost every office in the country. They provide great benefits and PTO. The location of the Columbus Office is great, right next to the arena. Most of the seniors and staff there are hard-working and great to work with!

    Cons

While the firm stressed a "Work-Life" Balance, this was always difficult to achieve, even when it wasn't tax season. Managers would get upset if staff and seniors didn't work 60-65 hours a week in off-season. The seniors were way overloaded with work but the company wasn't bringing on any new seniors, only new managers. Many of the seniors and managers did not know how to correctly use workpapers, so they couldn't train new staff on how to correctly complete workpapers, but then they would get angry when it wasn't correct. Many members of management seemed to enjoy putting staff down and making them feel worse about themselves. One manager would even give staff poor performance evaluations if they disagreed with her.

    Advice to Management

Management needs to realize that the people who work under them are people too. They are not scut monkeys, they aren't robots. They are people and have feelings and lives outside of the office. Management needs to work on communication skills and how to effectively and correctly provide feedback. They need to stop acting like the are better than others that work there. They need to remember that, without the staff and the seniors, they wouldn't be there.
