I have been working at Crowe full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Crowe emphasizes "doing the right thing" for clients, the firm, and employees. The culture is solid, principles based, and very collaborative. The partners are involved, not just sales or relationship oriented. Diversity is important to Crowe and it is reflected in many areas.

    Cons

As is the case with most national accounting firms, the combination of travel time and busy season client serving hours can be stressful.

    Advice to Management

Keep working on solutions to minimize the impact of long local commutes on the staff.

I have been working at Crowe full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

*Flexible environment, from dressing for your day, to office hours, to work from home policy.
*Leadership tries very hard to cater to young employees (from technology updates, to innovation initiatives, to paid parental leave and more).
    *Quick promotion paths are possible.

    Cons

*It is a Public Accounting firm. Busy season hours can suck. They are not as bad as big 4, but they can be extensive.
*Depending on the office and region, busy season can run most of the year. (Poor scheduling and management. )
*Pay - slightly below market. More upsetting is the random discrepancies in pay one may encounter. The secrecy over compensation doesn't help. The annual review criteria is vague and subjective. Does not motivate and encourage hard work.
*Some offices are lacking the technical skills. Promoting employees quickly results in poorly run teams.

    Advice to Management

Listen to all employees. Don't forget to say Thank you. Focus on merit based pay.

    I worked at Crowe full-time

    Pros

Good people and culture, will get thrown in the mix right away.

    Cons

Upward mobility a clear issue, some figure it out sooner than others. The firm seems very slow to promote to partner.

    Advice to Management

Create an avenue for middle-senior level people to make it to partner.

I have been working at Crowe full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Reasons I love Crowe:
    1) People come first. I have never worked at a place that has been so understanding of life. Whether it be the birth of a new child or the passing of my father in law, Crowe was there for support, time off, and any other needs. You are part of a real family at Crowe.

    2) Mobility. Crowe trusts its people to be smart about where they work. This flexibility has allowed me to work from home frequently, which enables me to better balance work and home.

    3) Opportunity. Crowe reminds me of Goldilocks' experience ... not too hot, not too cold ... just right. And what I mean by that is that Crowe will empower you to have the kind of experience you are looking for. For me, I want opportunity. I want the chance to develop and progress. And Crowe has given me every opportunity I have asked for.

    Cons

Here are a couple "negatives" (albeit, relatively minor):
    1) I used to work at a Big 4, and the technology at Crowe (laptops, etc.) is a bit behind the curve of my former Big 4 employer. That's not to say we live in the stone age. But, my former employer had the "top of the line", so I've had to adjust to that.

    2) Processes. Similar to my other comment, Crowe has not matured as much as a Big 4 firm with respect to processes ... e.g., expense management, consultation databases, etc. We are heading there, and it's nice to be able to help steer; but, we are a little "younger" than the Big 4 are in that regard.

    Advice to Management

Keep trusting your employees. Maintain mobility. Safeguard the family feel. We have a great thing, and we want to keep it!
